I have never said that I will not work with Salman Khan after Yuvraj" :Katrina Kaif

Katrina Kaif has refuted reports that she had decided to end her professional relationship with beau Salman Khan [Images] and said that a good script was the only pre-condition for her to sign a film.

"I have never said that I will not work with Salman Khan after Yuvraj," she said. "I always go by the script. I do not know how such speculations float around. If our dates work out, we will feature in Sohail Khan's [Images] next film."


On reports that she was no longer part of Shah Rukh Khan's [Images] Temptations world tour after the much-hyped SRK-Salman fracas at her birthday party, Katrina said that she enjoyed dancing, and being on stage. "If dates permit, I will be a part of the show," she said.

Katrina, who recently replaced Aishwarya Rai [Images] Bachchan as the ambassador of Nakshtra jewellary brand, revealed that she is leaving for the US to shoot for Kabir Khan's film, to be produced by Yash Raj Films, this week. The actress will be paired opposite John Abraham [Images] in this yet-untitled film.

"This will be my longest outdoor schedule ever," she said.

But before that, Katrina is looking forward to the release of her film, Singh is Kinng this week. "It is an entertaining film and we have worked very hard on it," she said, adding, "Akshay has a good sense of script, commercial cinema and audience tastes. He is unbiased towards his co-stars. Namastey London [Images] was a woman centric film but Akshay was its strength as well. Besides, we have fun matching each other's energy in dancing," she said.

"Om Shanti Om" : Is it a stolen script ????

After actor Manoj Kumar’s legal action against Om Shanti Om (OSO), now a script writer has dragged Shah Rukh Khan, director Farah Khan and others to court for allegedly copying his script.

Ajay Monga, who has written the scripts of films like Corporate and the forthcoming Fashion, has filed a suit in Bombay High Court, alleging that OSO is a copy of a script he wrote. Alleging copyright infringement, Monga’s suit states that he had wanted Shah Rukh to play the lead role in the film, and gave a copy of the script to his company — Red Chillies Entertainment — in December 2005, but got no response.
Monga’s action may seem belated given that OSO was released in November.

However, he has stated that he filed complaint with the Script Writers’ Association in December itself. He decided to file a suit in the HC on August 2 after learning that the film is slated for a worldwide television release on August 10.

On Wednesday, Monga’s lawyer, Virendra Tulzapurkar, sought an ad-interim relief from the HC to stop the telecast of the film on Sony Television on August 10. He said that his client had filed his objections with Multi Screen Media (formerly SET India), which had acquired satellite telecast rights of OSO. “When my client realised that in spite of his objection, they are going ahead with the television release, he approached the HC.” He also pointed out that the satellite release of the film amounted to a fresh act of piracy and infringement of his client’s copyright.

Climax of Kuselan and Billoo Barber are the same !!!

Kuselan, the Tamil version of the Malayalam superhit Katha Parayumpol, about the relationship between a cine-superstar and a village barber, has made it to the top of the box-office charts.

But Priyadarshan who's frantically trying to finish the Hindi version with SRK is unperturbed. "We'd have wrapped up Billoo Barber much earlier. But Shah Rukh got busy with the IPL. Never mind. It makes no difference to our film."

Priyan says the original Malyalam film which was written by his assistant Sreenivasan is very different from both Kuselan and Billoo Barber.

"Sreenivasan gave the Tamil rights to the producers after consulting me. Since they were very keen to make it with Rajnikanth, we relented. But the contract clearly says that Kuselan cannot be dubbed into any other language. Likewise, my Hindi version cannot be dubbed by producer SRK in any other language except the parent lingo, Hindi. We clearly put all this under contract to avoid the kind of overlapping that was attempted when I remade the Malayalam film Manichithrathzu as Bhool Bhulaiyaa in Hindi, and Rajni's Tamil film Chandramukhi, from the same source was also attempted to be released in a dubbed Hindi version. I'll avoid this kind of a clash of interests at any cost."

But the question is, would the contract prevent the makers of Kuselan from finding loopholes in the agreement to release the film in a dubbed Hindi version? And if they do would it effect Billoo Barber? According to a source a dubbed Hindi version of Kuselan is being released around the same time as Billoo Barber.

"Not at all," asserts Priyan. "Only the climax of Kuselan and Billoo Barber are the same. Otherwise they are two different films. See, like all Rajnkanth starrers, Kuselan has been made to spotlight Rajni as a larger-than-life icon.

I believe he enters the film riding a winged horse. Though my film also stars a superstar SRK as a superstar, I've nowhere tried to increase his role or heighten the impact of his presence. I'm not that kind of a filmmaker. In Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Akshay Kumar made his entry at interval point. I'm making it very clear that Irrfan Khan and not Shah Rukh has the main role in Billoo Barber. My film isn't a platform to glorify the mega-star," says Priyan making a dig at the first-frame-to-last presence of Rajnikanth in Kuselan. Billoo Barber opens during Diwali. "If I wanted I could've rushed the release. But we're not in competition with anyone. And like I said, the Kuselan makers are bound by contract. They can't dub the film into Hindi or any other language," says Priyan.

Angelina Jolie's twins picture unveiled

People magazine and British tabloid Hello! have jointly bagged the rights to publish the exclusive photos of Hollywood couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's newborn twins, a deal considered to be the most expensive for celebrity pictures.

The pictures were sold for $14 million with Getty Images as the photo agency and go-between, reports say.

People.com will unveil the first photo online Sunday evening.

"People will feature twin babies Vivienne Marcheline and Knox Leon in an issue to hit the news stands August 4," informed People's spokeswoman Nancy Valentino in a statement.

The money will go to the couple's charity, the Jolie-Pitt Foundation, for humanitarian aid around the world.



The couple had earlier sold pictures of their kids Shiloh and Pax to the same magazines and the same photo agency to raise money for charity.

The US rights for the pictures go to People that will split the bill with Hello! magazine, which has the worldwide rights.

Hello! magazine secured the deal after a bidding frenzy with rival OK!, reports say.

Hindi movies in academic curriculum

BHUBANESWAR, Aug 3: Apart from their well-known entertainment and commercial aspects, mainstream Hindi films also have the academic facet.
Keeping the fact in mind, Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar is trying out a fairly new concept, wherein acclaimed films like Swades, Chak De India and Manthan would be included as case studies in ‘Community Mobilisation and Institution Building’ course in XIMB’s second year rural management programme.
The course attempts to relate the film’s characters to the theory. The students are asked to watch the movie before coming to class.
During the class itself, intermediate clippings of important moments in the film are shown. This leads to greater class participation, and boosts the students’ understanding of the subject, as the films have a long-lasting effect on their memories, due to the effective use of the visual medium.
Prof Niraj Kumar, the faculty conducting the course claimed that due to the introduction of such audio-visual measures, there has been a marked improvement in the efficiency of his teaching methodology.
The course has also been well received by the students. XIMB is consistently getting positive feedback from the students about this course, since its introduction in the current form.
Similar use of movies as part of pedagogy has been done in a few courses of the business management course as well.

Sanjay Dutt as Haji Mastan?

His forthcoming film is about three dons who ruled Mumbai in the ’70s; he is expected to play Haji Mastan, reports PRITHWISH GANGULY Three of the most powerful dons who terrorised Mumbai in the ’70s — Haji Mastan, Karim Lala and Varadarajan Muniswami Mudaliar — will soon come alive on-screen. Milan Luthria’s forthcoming film Once Upon a Time in Mumbai has drawn inspiration for its plot from the lives of these three gangsters who ruled the streets of the then Bombay. Sanjay Dutt, who has been approached by Milan for the film, will play the role of one of the gangsters, most probably Haji Mastan, considering that he had the most influence on Bollywood among the trio. “He fits the bill completely for the role he will play. Can’t disclose everything right now,” Milan says laughing. The film, co-produced by Suniel Shetty’s Popcorn Entertainment and Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms, will also highlight the emergence of organised crime in the city. “The film will portray a period in Mumbai when the city first saw what organised crime was and the extent of violence it can cause,” says Milan. “Our film is based on what the city went through in that period, how suddenly the gangsters ruled the streets and people were terrified. Though it is a gangster movie, it will also show the contemporary cabaret culture of the city.” Milan adds: “Since the film is about gangsters and the underworld of the ’70’s, we have drawn instances from the lives of gang lords of those days like Haji Mastan, Karim Lala and Vardarajan. They were instrumental in bringing organised crime to the city.” Our sources say Milan’s film will have characters who will essay these three notorious gangsters, but Milan was not too forthcoming about details. “The film is inspired from what happened in the 70s and so since these men belonged to that era instances may be similar but the characters are not essaying them ditto,” he adds.

This, it looks like, will be the big year of Kareena Kapoor.

In her new avatar with size zero adding considerable oomph value to her drop-dead gorgeous looks, the actress is making heads turn internationally.

Last week at Universal Studio in LA, where she is shooting with Akshay Kumar for Sajid Nadiadwala’s Kambakkht Ishq, Kareena caught Hollywood legend Sylvester Stallone’s attention.

The Rocky and Rambo actor, who has a bit part in the film, was taken in by her beauty and apparently has not stopped talking about the Indian actress.

Hollywood agents, quick to follow Stallone’s cue, began dropping in on Nadiadwala’s sets to check out Kareena and have been making inquires about her. Sources say the Bollywood hottie has had a few hush-hush meetings with some top Hollywood executives and is likely to be making a big career announcement soon.

When BT asked Kareena about this, she replied non-commitally, “It’s the right time for Bollywood with so many avenues and doors opening up on a global scale. The possibilities are immense. I’m just keeping my fingers crossed.”

But it’s not only through Kambakkth Ishq that the actress has gone global. She recently did the cover of an international magazine for which she was styled by Nicole Kidman’s stylist Desiree and shot by famous fashion photographer Trevor Leighton. Besides, international R&B and pop icon Sean Kingston has also mentioned her as Bollywood’s numero uno in the remake of his chartbuster Beautiful Girls, now named Bollywood Girls.

Sachin Tendulkar's movie, by God

Sachin Tendulkar (TOI Photo) More Pics The film on Siddhivinayak in which cricketer Sachin Tendulkar will play a cameo is almost as starry an affair as the list of the temple’s devotees. “There are so many Bollywood stars who are devotees of Siddhivinayak,” says Rajiv Sanghvi, the producer of the movie titled Vighnaharta Shri Siddhivinayak. “Hence, when we decided to make the movie, we thought of roping in all the people who are devotees of the deity.” He also clarifies that the master blaster is not acting in the movie. “He and his wife Anjali will be shown performing an aarti in the Siddhivinayak temple,” says Sanghvi. “Obviously, Sachin was our main focus in the movie as he is a famous cricketer and an inspiration for the country’s young people. Just before Sachin left for the Sri Lanka tour, we proposed the idea of making the movie with him. He readily agreed. We will start shooting from today. The shoot should be over by September 5. We haven’t scheduled the movie for release during Ganesh Chaturthi as we feel that many people won’t have the time to watch the movie then. So we’ve decided to release the movie during Diwali. The lead actors are Parmeet Sethi and Divya Dutta, and we’re also planning to rope in other prominent actors like Sanjay Dutt and Akshay Kumar. Rajiv Johri has written the lyrics and the music has been composed by Anil Mohile. The soundtrack will feature Udit Narayan and Shankar Mahadevan. Ganesh Acharya has agreed to do the choreography of the film. All the actors are doing the project free of cost,” he adds. To add to the star factor, Amitabh Bachchan is doing the narration, says director Yashwant Ingavale. “It’s certainly not going to be a regular Bollywood film. It’s not a devotional film either, but will convey a strong message to the audience. It’s about the miraculous experience of the devotees,” he says. It was Madhur ‘Page 3’ Bhandarkar who gave him the idea for the film, he adds. “This is my debut Hindi movie. I have assisted Madhur, and when he asked me to make this movie, I couldn’t help being excited,” he says. Trustees from the Siddhivinayak temple in Mumbai say that the idea for a film on the deity has been floating about for a while now. “There were many devotees who actually suggested that there should be a movie made on Lord Ganesha,” says Subhash Mayekar, chairman of the Siddhivinayak Temple Trust. “It was then that one of our regular visitors, Rajiv Sanghvi, decided to make a film which would feature Sachin in a cameo. As Sachin is also one of the regular visitors to the temple, he couldn’t say no and readily agreed. We’ve taken permission from the temple authorities and will shoot some part of the movie in the temple premises.” While Tendulkar wasn’t available for comment, his personal assistant said, “The temple wanted an earlier date for shooting, probably before the Sri Lanka tour. But due to Sachin’s busy schedule, he couldn’t get to shoot earlier. He has agreed to shoot for the film after coming back from the tour.”
