Emraan Hashmi smooched by fan - Watch Video

And all this happened much to the disgust of music director Pritam Chakraborty. The appalled musician has reportedly said that if all this was a rehearsed event then the show was nothing but digging its own grave.

All this commotion happened during the recording of the ‘Voice of India’ show held on February 25, Monday. As the shooting was going on an over enthused fan ran to the center stage and kissed Emraan Hashmi right on his lips much to the shock and disgust of others present. The judge and composer Pritam expressed his disgust by staging a walkout of the show.

Thinking back on the event Pritam is believed to have said that the entire episode happened so fast and suddenly in a show that was showcasing children’s talent. The music director is of view that such explosive behavior should be curtailed in public.

Pritam is believed to have made his stand very clear by saying that ‘Voice of India’ is a very potential show and that it has produced very deserving winners, and he did not want this show to just bank on TRPs alone like a lot of other ordinary music shows.

Emraan, for you we suggest you better wear a helmet while you go to such shows in future.

Kerala's biggest bank robbery inspired by Dhoom

It was Dhoom sans the bikes and babes. Sanjay Gadhvi’s thriller shot a real-life take in Malappuram in Kerala when a group of criminals burrowed their way into a bank on New Year’s Eve. Two months later, however, police have caught four of the accused and recovered most of the Rs8-crore loot in an equally dramatic operation.

If Jaison, the mastermind, was inspired by Kabir (the dashing thief played by John Abraham), there were 27 Jais (the supercop played by Abhishek Bachchan) after him. Malappuram superintendent of police P Vijayan led his men on the culprits’ trail, armed with an innovative strategy and hi-tech investigation methods.

Additional director general of police KS Jangpangi, briefing reporters about the arrests in Malappuram on Thursday, said this is a milestone in the police records. “It is a classic case of teamwork. We also couldn’t have done it without good leadership,” he said. He added the theft was the biggest in the history of the state.

On the morning of January 1, the staff of the South Malabar Grameen Bank in Chelembra was shocked to see the floor cracked open from below and the locker poorer by Rs7.5 crore worth of gold and Rs25 lakh cash. The daredevilry was attributed to a mysterious man who had rented the floor below the bank in the guise of renovating it as a restaurant. “There were no weapons used to make the manhole and the gang left very scant evidence,” Jangpangi said. Police relied on a sketch of a man called Babu in the initial phase of the investigation. Jaison aka Joseph has an uncanny resemblance to the sketch made by the police team from descriptions given by locals.

The funniest Book which i read ever !!!!!

Its a book named "The Satyam Diet Plan by Surekha Dangoor" which i found on the top of humour section ( but the title is serious ) of scribd.com today in between an unofficial( Time pass between serious works) wandering over the internet. As the book name suggests , i am
too curious to read the book in one sitting ( because am a little fatty, so dreamt this is the golden chance to burn my unwanted fat).Clicked over the PDF link to read this e -book ( i am a PDF fan, especially in case of e-books). At the end of a long restless waiting( My net connection is too slow) , the ebook get loaded!!!!. haiilaaa !!!!!! My curiosity multiplied, but retarded suddenly, bec i found the book contains only 7 pages. Only seven pages...????? I am wonderd how can one burn 15 kg fat with these narrow 7 pages ???? I tried to aware myself that may
be book conatins only essential things ( Why there is a need of 200-300 pages if one can shrink things to 7 pages- am so happy with this theory) .

I am started to read the book, first page shows the title and name of the author in BOLD,Ok.. good, come down to second page, a brief introduction about the book
.Author expalins the book is for an average healthy indiviadual in mind, and not for the persons who have metabolic or genetic disorders which makes impossible to loss weight without the aid of drugs or surgery ( .....very serious things), She also reminded her father (late) who owned
the patent of concept of this book. She a lso declined that this is the easy and flexible methid that enables one to save time as well as money in the process of losing weight . ( I am happy again, i can sve some money over this too). A reader reviwed the book " Brilliant! Witty, Succinct and efective " Philip Chuang

Second page is also over, coming to third page, where a full page of copy right issues . Author warns the readers that "no part of this book reproduced in any form or by any electroninc, mechanical means without the written permission of the copyright owner " (may be the author
puts efforts of months and months to complete this book.....). This page is also indicates, this is the first edition and printed in US ( ...great)

Coming to third page its a dedication , she remember her father for his timeless wisdom ( am near to cry.....).

OOOO.. My wait is over am reaching the first lesson ( started to dreaming ,superslim galmourous body, plenty of female fan followers behind me as seen in some ads,.....and so on...),my eyes widen with curiosity. There the comedy starts , the whole essence of this book shrinks to this page where she states that " if you want to lose weight , it is very simple. Eat less. ". That s the end book....haahahahaahaaa, All my dreams, sexy figure, female fans...ec...etc.. ends in a sudden, but the enjoyment given by this book, which makes me laugher and laugher again and again , never ends......

The Other Boleyn Girl

Aside from the frolicking of the Greek gods, the bedroom high jinks of the European royals may be the closest thing we have to a ready-made literary-historical soap opera. The saga of Henry VIII has always had a special contempo juiciness. Yes, it happened 500 years ago, but it hinges on

the invention — or, at least, the popularization — of divorce, a fact portrayed with indelible flair in such pop cultural touchstones as A Man for All Seasons and The Six Wives of Henry VIII. The latest incarnation of the saga, The Other Boleyn Girl, is a classy romantic cocktail distinguished by its tart yet breezy bite. It was written by Peter Morgan, and here, as in the two celebrated films he scripted in 2006 — The Queen and The Last King of Scotland — Morgan displays a breathless fascination with the lace-on-steel intricacies of power. He turns gossip into art, or tries to.

Early in The Other Boleyn Girl, we're asked to marvel at the unseemliness of the Boleyn men, as they engineer a liaison at the family's country estate between their eldest eligible lass, the dark-haired flirt Anne (Natalie Portman), and King Henry himself (Eric Bana), whose queen has failed, over and over, to provide him with a male heir. It's funny, in a grand way, to see a scandalous extramarital fling orchestrated with the pomp of a debutante ball. At the estate, Henry has a hunting accident that results, indirectly, from Anne's hubris. He returns, in a huff, to the royal court, and the only way that the family can get back in his good graces is to offer up its other daughter, the wholesome, honey blond Mary (Scarlett Johansson). Which makes the whole sordid setup feel like a glorified act of pimping.

The king takes to Mary — to her curves and her amber waves of hair, to her gentle supplicant nature. (Few actresses know how to submit with the parted-lip sensuality of Scarlett Johansson.) That's how the Boleyns, with an ambition that is literally naked, open the door to power. Yet the quality that Morgan, as a screenwriter, is most drawn to is the power of persuasion — the kind that intrigues with its duplicity, that harvests bold choices from limited opportunities. Thus the agent of action the movie revolves around is Anne, who after a brief exile to France returns, ready to exert her influence in a way that's both cold and admirable, ruthless yet nobly feminist. She will have the king after all, but on her own terms. And she'll make him think it was on his.

The Other Boleyn Girl offers the pleasures you want, and expect, from a middlebrow royal-court soaper. The actors playing the scheming Boleyns flex their eyebrows on dastardly cue, and the director, Justin Chadwick, shoots the castle interiors with a grandeur just primitive enough to make parlors barely distinguishable from tower prison cells. As Henry, Eric Bana, huge and mighty and bearded, his eyes aglow, wears his big square layers of decorative fabric with majestic physicality. He's courtlier, less infantile, than the Henrys we're used to, until he gets to the bedroom, where he treats women like legs of mutton — as tasty treats to be devoured.

A disenchanted fairy tale about what happens after its sister Cinderellas move to the castle, The Other Boleyn Girl is crisply enjoyable, its cynicism polished to a high sheen, yet there's also something rigid and slightly locked-in about it. Morgan's characters are a little too abstract this time. They manipulate engagingly, yet they don't fully breathe. Adapting a novel by Philippa Gregory, Morgan imposes a structure that is nearly always visible — far more so than in his modern political dramas (like The Queen or the rise–of–Tony Blair teleplay The Deal), in which the psychology of the scheme is all. Henry, after countless mistresses, is supposed to finally fall hard for the one woman who will stand up to him. But the way the film presents it, his latent swooning is just another piece in the puzzle. You don't quite buy it.

What you do believe is the self-deluded treachery of Portman's Anne. There's a bold new authority to the actress' sensuality. She sparkles with deception, daring to flaunt passion as well as ambition. Anne, a woman ahead of her time, isn't quite shrewd enough about her own time. Yet as she uses her wiles, not merely to seduce the king but to render that seduction legitimate, she fulfills herself and destroys herself, making the world safe for social climbers everywhere. B

Bollywood's React over Shah Rukh Khan, Preity Zinta and Indian Premier League (IPL)

Bollywood is proud that Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta have helped filmdom forge a lifetime's bond with cricket with the Indian Premier League (IPL) auctions.

What is the IPL ?
The Indian Premier League is a professional twenty20 cricket league created and promoted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and backed by the International Cricket Council.

Franchises
The IPL works on a franchise-system based on the American style of hiring players and transfers. These franchises were put for auction, where the highest bidder won the rights to own the team, representing each city. The auction took place on January 24, 2008 and the total base price for the auction was $400 million. The auction went on to fetch $723.59 million.

The Mumbai franchise owned by Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) was the most expensive franchise - with the fetching $111.9 million closely followed by Vijay Mallya's United Breweries - which paid $111.6 million for the Bangalore franchise...

The industry reacts:

Bipasha Basu: "It's fantastic that Preity and Shah Rukh now own a part of the team. If you have the money and the interest in the game, why not invest? I think it's great for our country because ample infrastructure can be invested into strengthening of the teams and the players. And Bollywood into cricket means more fun for viewers when the league matches happen.

Shekhar Kapoor: If I knew about the IPL I'd have bid for it too. It's perfect!!

Javed Akhtar: When I first heard about it my reaction was, 'Wow!' I'm very proud of Preity Zinta and Shah Rukh Khan, particularly SRK. He has done it on his own.

Hema Malini: It's wonderful to see our film industry extending its wings to other territories. It just shows that entertainment is no longer restricted to the cinema.

Naseeruddin Shah: I couldn't care less.

Irrfan Khan: To me, it just shows that there's lots and lots of money in cricket.

Arshad Warsi: With all this, I feel I'm in Hollywood. It's superb.

Mahesh Bhatt: Mixing two colours to create a third one is always exciting. This is the age of entertainment. This alliance of cricket and movies ushers in a new brave world. It was bound to happen sooner or later.

Simi Garewal: I'm very pleased that the stars are coming out in support of sports. I feel cricketers are at the top and financially well rewarded. I would be happier if they support less popular games like chess, hockey, football and tennis. It would make India an all-round sports force to reckon with. In this context, it's wonderful to know Akshay Kumar is supporting wrestling.

Zayed Khan: I think it's great investment and an indication of forward thinking. The amount Rs 300 crore sounds like something we'd all like to make.

Sameera Reddy: I think it's a fantastic alliance. It's important to invest wisely and this is definitely a sound business move for both Bollywood and cricket.

Madhavan: Well, when the two biggest passions of the country come together, it has to be a super-alliance. I want to see where cricket goes from here.

Nandana Sen: This is more about business than entertainment. And I don't understand business. But I'm always happy to see more cricket on television. That's what this alliance will lead to.

Neil Mathur: I guess talent has found talent. Only good can come out of this alliance.

Aftab Shivdasani: Personally, I think it was expected. There has always been some sort of link between Bollywood and cricket. This alliance can only take the two industries further.

Vashu Bhagnani: It's a great business opportunity. Bollywood and cricket provoke maximum passion in India. The combination has to be lethal.

Nikhil Dwivedi: I can speak for Shah Rukh since I know him well. He is an extremely intelligent and sensible man and has genuine passion for every sport. He won't treat cricket as a business venture and will invest everything he has into making the game a force to reckon with.

You can rest assured about one thing. With Shah Rukh around, spectators will get their money's worth. You take it from me. Shah Rukh will rule even in the world of cricket.

Victor Banerjee: Gulli-danda was a plebian pastime that the British elevated with the willow into Lords. Cricket in India is largely played by the sportingly incompetent.

There's a just a handful of tough exceptions. Don't give me a bellyache by saying we are a 'sporting' nation of 'sportsmen'. We're a nation of businessmen who have destroyed the game with its worldwide corruption centred in India.

The reason we love cricket is because it's dependent on the vagaries of fiddling with the ball, rain that determines decisions, ground conditions that can be tweaked and the odd upwardly mobile player willing to accept a bundle under the table and even on a flight. We were wonderful in hockey and even winners of the gold medal in football in the 1st Asian Games when my father who couldn't play for the team because of his commitment to the Indian army was a selector.

It's hilarious that we take the Australian Kerry Packer's resurrection of an idiotic colonial game so seriously.

The World's Biggest Shortest Film - The 1 Second Film

The 1 Second Film, a non-profit collaborative film that anyone can be part of! Simply donate $1 or more to add Your Name to the epic celebrity filled credits of the World's Biggest Shortest Film! It's all for a great cause; support the arts and share a moment with the world!

The 1 Second Film brings together thousands of people from around the world to raise money for the Global Fund for Women. We spoke to its mastermind, Nirvan Mullick.

What’s the 1 Second Film all about?
NM: The 1 Second Film is about bringing people together in lots of small ways to make a film that makes a difference. We’re using the internet as a virtual studio to enable people around the world to micro-collaborate. All profits raised by our finished film will be donated to charity.

The film will have one second of animation followed by about 90 minutes of credits. The animation consists of 12 giant paintings that were made by hundreds of people during a big party. Each painting will be filmed twice on 70mm to create the 24 frames in one second of film. The reason the credits will be so long is because anyone can produce the film by donating $1 or more. Our producers get listed in order of amount donated. The credits will also include a feature-length “making of” documentary that our producers can contribute to. Each of our producers receives a unique profile on our site that enables them to collaborate and contribute content. Our goal is to raise a million dollars to make the film and to have as many people participate as possible, building a foundation for non-profit sequels.

What are you going to cover in just one second?
NM: The film will attempt to show how much can happen in one second when large amounts of people work together. Each frame of the animation has its own story. The documentary will also cover the grassroots growth of the project, which started with no money, and has grown one person and $1 at a time.

How did you come up with the idea?
NM: The idea grew organically over time. The seed took root 10 years ago while I was studying philosophy. I came across an idea of “perfect moments” in a book, and decided to try to make one. This led me to start making stop-motion animated short films. Stop-motion is an insane amount of work. You can literally spend hundreds of hours making a few seconds of film. Somewhere during this time, I began brainstorming ways to compress as much as possible into one second of film.

In 2000, I was studying experimental animation at CalArts, an art school built around multi-disciplinary collaboration. This influenced the project, which developed into an attempt to bring all the art departments at my school together for one second – dance, painting, animation, music, etc. We threw a big party and painted the 12 frames of animation. It was a ton of fun, and I began to develop ideas for sequels to expand the concept. Then September 11th happened. Shortly after, an idea for a sequel began to take shape that would attempt to address what happened. That led to a five-phase plan to bring people around the world together using the concept of micro-collaboration to address various social issues.

I then began fundraising with a little flier, pitching the idea to people I met on the streets, and raising our budget dollar by dollar. The idea for the documentary took shape because of the absurd adventures that began to happen along the way. Then, as the project moved online, more and more people started to participate and contribute content, so we developed our own online collaborative network to see the project through.

The project sounds like a mixture of the Million Dollar Homepage and A Swarm of Angels. Is this a coincidence?
NM: Yeah, that’s a coincidence. There seem to be a lot of projects that are finding creative ways to use the internet. Our project actually started without any online presence. The open source CMS and social networking tools we’re now using didn’t exist seven years ago when this started. Our project has gradually merged with technology as the concept evolved and the tools to make it happen became accessible.

Our project is also non-profit, dedicated to using media and collaborative art to create social change. We formed The 1 Second Foundation in 2006, and put together an experienced board of directors to provide oversight and accountability for the project and the various sequels. For more information about our foundation, visit the1secondfoundation.org

How’s the response been so far?
NM: Unbelievable. We have over 7,200 producers from 43 different countries, and have raised more than $155,000 in donations and in-kind services. This project didn’t even have a video camera when it started – just a flier I made at Kinkos. I had no idea if people outside of my school would support it. I was amazed when people I met on the streets started donating a buck, five bucks, 10 bucks. As more people got involved, the donations began to grow. A lady I met in the mall donated $125; a guy who works at the DMV in Georgia sent us $500 in the mail; someone from South Korea sent us $543.21 using PayPal; and of course, Kiefer Sutherland chipped in $600.23 at a restaurant. The list goes on and on. Producers have also sent in thousands of letters, as well as photos and videos of themselves supporting our film around the world. Young kids in Florida had a lemonade stand to raise money for their producer credits, and college students have set up presentations at their universities and have brought us out to share the project. Several sponsors have started getting involved. FotoKem.com will be donating our 70mm film services, while pair.com has been donating free hosting and dedicated servers to keep our site going. The level of support is what has enabled this project to grow.

How did you get onto the IMDb?
NM: Stephen Colbert. Craig and I met him at a Sundance party we snuck into back in 2005. Stephen really liked our project and donated $11 to become our producer. He then recorded some funny video saying, “IMDb should put this credit in. It’s as valid as most of my credits.” We sent this video clip to IMDb, who had previously rejected our title. After seeing Colbert’s clip, IMDb finally started listing our producer credits.

What happened next was amazing. People started stumbling across The 1 Second Film on IMDb while looking up Kevin Bacon, Pierce Brosnan, Stephen Colbert, or any of our high-profile producers. Our little film was wedged between multi-million dollar blockbusters such as Independence Day and The Day After Tomorrow. People around the world began finding our film and donating online to become our producers. IMDb kept listing all of our producers. Not just the celebrities, but also the students, grandmothers, farmers, teachers and entire families that were getting involved. Most were first-time filmmakers who suddenly found themselves producers credited alongside many of their favorite filmmakers for as little as $1.

IMDb recently had a change of heart and removed all of our producer credits without warning, including Colbert. IMDb issued a statement that our credits had become “too long and time-consuming to list.” We offered to give them automated bulk updates, and requested they at least continue to list the 3,000 producers they had already taken the time to enter, but as of now, IMDb no longer lists any of our producers.

How did you get celebrities like Kiefer Sutherland and Spike Jonze onboard?
NM: I started running into celebrities while pitching the film on the streets of Los Angeles. I noticed that having celebrity names attached helped market the film to a wider audience, so my friend Craig Trudeau and I started going to film festivals, sneaking into parties, and getting as many high-profile producers involved as we could. I met Spike Jonze at a special Charlie Kaufman retrospective. After the Q&A, I gave my 1 second pitch to Spike and showed him some pictures of the artwork. I was nervous, as it’s always awkward going up to someone you admire and asking them for a buck, but Spike was really cool. He liked the concept and donated $12 cash. Then he wrote his name on our little sign-up sheet along with the word “producer”. Charlie Kaufman joined up a few minutes later and wrote his name under Spike’s. Soon, everyone in the lobby asked about our film and ended up donating. We probably raised $70 at the time, but since then, dozens of Spike’s fans have donated $12.01 online just to be listed next to him.

Kiefer Sutherland was a totally different story. A friend and I were at an otherwise empty restaurant when Kiefer walked in with three friends. I’ve gotten into the habit of carrying a bag with me everywhere I go that has The 1 Second Film gear, just in case of situations like this. So on our way out, we said hello and asked if they had heard of The 1 Second Film. By chance, one of Kiefer’s friends said yes. Not only had he heard of it, but he was already our associate producer! Not sure what the odds of that happening are, but it’s one of the benefits of having thousands of producers spread around the world. This really broke the ice. Kiefer checked out some of the animation art and we talked about indie filmmaking for a while. He really loved our project. He happened to have his checkbook with him and donated $600.23 on the spot. I had my digital still camera with me and was able to get a little video of Kiefer, which will be in our documentary. The story of each celebrity producer can be found on our site in their producer profiles: www.the1secondfilm.com/producers/celebrities

How much profit are you hoping to make and what will you do with it?
NM: We hope to raise as much profit as possible. We plan to pre-market the film heavily, and then sell DVDs, collector prints of the art, 70mm film strips, calendars, clothing, etc. The original 12 paintings will be auctioned off after our premiere, and could end up selling for quite a bit. All profits raised will be donated to the Global Fund for Women, a nonprofit grant-making organisation that supports women’s human rights around the world.

When will the film be released and will you also make it available online?
NM: It’s hard to say when the film will be released. It’s basically an open source documentary. We have a few more goals remaining before we wrap and start postproduction. Eventually, the film will have a 70mm premiere, perhaps followed by a limited theatrical release and an international DVD release. We may make it available online as well.

What’s planned next, and what’s still to do before the film is released?
NM: Now that our site is automated, our goal is to create a tipping point so that everyone who might like to participate has a chance. To that end, we’re planning a cross-country bio-diesel road trip that our producers can help set up. We’ll be visiting universities and house parties giving presentations of The 1 Second Film and our five-phase plan. The road trip will end in Chicago, where we’re hoping to get Oprah to become our producer. After the road trip, we plan to wrap up our documentary, finish postproduction and prepare for our 70mm world premiere and art opening.

What are the other phases planned by the 1 Second Foundation?
NM: Our five-phase plan is to create global collaboration on a scale that inspires the imagination. Each phase will expand the project, creating larger and longer collaborative films that will address various social issues. Phase 2 will be The 2nd Second Film, which will be two seconds long and will attempt to address September 11th. The animation will be made during two simultaneous collaborative events in different parts of the world (New York and Afghanistan). Participants at each event will paint 24 murals, while international artists and musicians perform. The 48 finished paintings will then be combined to create the two seconds of animation. All proceeds raised by this project will benefit civilian casualties in NY and Afghanistan.

Phase 3 will be The 3D Second Film, made during three simultaneous events around the world, and addressing Global Warming. Phase 4 will be The 111 Second Film Festival, featuring 111 one-second events around the world, each addressing a local issue. And Phase 5 will be The 11,111 Second Film, an animated feature film, where we organise thousands of events around the world, with each event painting one second of the animation. Phase 5 will addresses global poverty, and has the potential to involve millions of people.

The entire plan is on the edge of what’s possible and will depend on the success of The 1 Second Film.

What’s the 1 Second Foundation’s ultimate goal?
NM: The ultimate goal is to bring the world together, one second at a time. Along the way, we hope to make collaborative art in a fun and interesting way to provide platforms for creative dialogue, and to make the most of the time we have together.

Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha may share screen again

A nostalgia vibe that seems a real philosophy of life leaving an onscreen magic between the great Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan and the ever beautiful Rekha; again going to create the same magic as speculations are round the corner for their upcoming film together after over two decades of a distant dream for theifans.

Rekha and Amitabh Bachchan who created some magical love sequence in their film together with films like “Do Anjane”, “Alaap”, “Imaan Dharm”, “Khoon pasina”, “ Ganga ki saugandh”, “Muqaddar ka sikandar”, “Mr Natwar Lal”, “Suhaag”, “Ram Balram”, and Silsila in which there exists an electrifying on-screen chemistry for the movie lovers to remember forever.

Their love affair that lets the media to hypothesize and write a lot, drawing various links now has got yet another valid reason to pen for as the pair are coming together to create one more cinematic magic if we believe the latest buzz of both stars sharing on screen place in Sujoy Ghosh’s “Aladdin & the Mystery Of The Lamp”.

In Sujoy Ghosh’s Aladdin which stars Sanjay Dutt, Ritesh Deshkukh and Mr. Bachchan as the favourite Genie may cast Rekha but for which character is yet to discover.

Well whatever the speculation but it somehow stirs again the Bachchan-Rekha link that succinctly tells everything, a love story that comes up perpetually in later part of 70s and 80s though ceases with time but reminds with such frisson of points together.

Fans certainly have become fervent to watch any such film to bring back their memories of both stars crafting a special screen appeal, which is almost impossible to form such on- screen presence without having any sense of love and passion from both sides.

Both stars after the 1982 released Silsila never acted together and the film too didn’t have a good box office account as it was a story based on adultery. The film was presumed to be based on Amitabh, Rekha and Jaya Bhaduri’s life and there decission of not coming together again further added recipe to the romantic link. Meanwhile, the recent rumour of their sharing screen yet again has offer something for all to wonder.

Deepika-Yuvi split! now dating Ranbir Kapoor

Deepika Padukone’s long list of admirers will now have one name less. She is no longer with cricketer Yuvraj Singh. The OSO actress split with Yuvi a few weeks back and is now dating Ranbir Kapoor.

Busy bee

The reason for the split is Yuvraj’s possessive attitude. A close friend spills the beans. “Deepika was very serious about Yuvraj. In fact, the two were madly in love.

However, after the success of OSO, Deepika got busy and could not give Yuvi as much time. She got busy meeting producers and signing films. This pissed Yuvi who felt he wasn’t getting enough attention from her.”

Showdown

They were also having other problems. Yuvi was giving her instructions on what to wear and with whom to party. “He was upset with the rumours of her growing proximity to Ranbir.

Before she left for her Australian schedule with Ranbir for the Yash Raj film, they had a huge showdown. She told him to back off and let her breathe, while he warned her not to get too close to Ranbir.”

Sources reveal that Deepika would avoid Yuvi’s calls while in Australia and that’s when he realised their relationship was over. “After getting back, she met him and called it off. Since then, Deepika has been thick with Ranbir and they are happy together.”

Ranbir and Deepika were seen holding hands at Farah and Aqueel’s party after the Filmfare Award night. “They want to keep it private.

They’ve dated in the past, but are extremely serious about each other now. In fact, they were also heard exchanging sweet nothings backstage on the awards night.”

When Los Angeles Times Leaked the Oscar Results

When the first Academy Awards were handed out on May 16, 1929, movies had just begun to talk. That first ceremony took place during an Academy banquet in the Blossom Room of the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. The attendance was 270 and guest tickets cost $5. It was a long banquet, filled with speeches, but presentation of the statuettes was handled expeditiously by Academy President Douglas Fairbanks.

The suspense that now touches most of the world at Oscar time was not always a characteristic of the Awards presentation. That first year, the award recipients were announced to the public three months ahead of the ceremony. For the next decade, the results were given in advance to newspapers for publication at 11 p.m. on the night of the Awards. But in 1940, much to the Academy’s dismay, the Los Angeles Times broke the embargo and announced the winning achievements in its evening edition, which was readily available to guests arriving for the affair. As a result, the Academy adopted the sealed-envelope system the next year, and the system remains in use today.

Since the earliest years, interest in the Academy Awards has run high, if not at the modern fever pitch. The first presentation was the only one to escape a media audience; by the second year, enthusiasm for the Awards was such that a Los Angeles radio station actually did a live one-hour broadcast of the event. The ceremony has had broadcast coverage ever since.

For 15 years the Academy Awards presentations were banquet affairs; after the first at the Hollywood Roosevelt, they were held at the Ambassador and Biltmore hotels. The custom of presenting the statuettes at a banquet was discontinued after the 1942 Awards. Increased attendance and the war had made banquets impractical, and the presentation ceremonies have since been held in theaters.

The 16th Awards ceremony was held at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre. It was covered by network radio for the first time and broadcast overseas to American GIs. The Awards stayed at Grauman’s for three years, then moved to the Shrine Civic Auditorium. Two years later, in March 1949, the 21st Awards ceremony took place in the Academy’s own Melrose Avenue theater. For the next 11 years, the annual Awards were held at the RKO Pantages Theatre in Hollywood. It was there, on March 19, 1953, that the Academy Awards Presentation was first televised. The NBC-TV and radio network carried the 25th Academy Awards ceremonies live from Hollywood with Bob Hope as master of ceremonies, and from the NBC International Theatre in New York with Fredric March making the presentations.

In 1961 the Awards moved to the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium and changed broadcasters, beginning a 10-year run with the ABC-TV network. In 1966 the Oscars were first broadcast in color. From 1971 through 1975, the NBC-TV network carried the Awards. ABC has telecast the show since 1976 and is under contract through 2014.

On April 14, 1969, the 41st Academy Awards ceremonies moved to the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion of the Los Angeles County Music Center. It was the first major event for this now world-renowned cultural center.

The Awards remained at the Music Center until 1987, then the ceremonies returned to the Shrine Auditorium for the 60th and 61st Awards. For a dozen years, the event alternated venues – the 62nd, 64th, 65th, 66th, 68th and 71st Awards were held at the Music Center, while the 63rd, 67th, 69th, 70th, 72nd and 73rd were at the Shrine.

Since 2002, the Academy Awards have been held at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood and Highland Center in Hollywood.

In the first year, 15 statuettes were awarded (all of them to men except for the Best Actress award, which went to Janet Gaynor), but in the second year the number of awards was reduced to seven – two for acting and one each for Outstanding Picture, Directing, Writing, Cinematography and Art Direction. Since then, the number of award categories has grown slowly but steadily.

The need for special awards beyond standard categories was recognized from the start. Two were awarded for the 1927/28 year: one went to Warner Bros. for producing the groundbreaking talking picture “The Jazz Singer,” and the other went to Charles Chaplin for producing, directing, writing and starring in “The Circus.”

In 1934 three new regular categories were added: Film Editing, Music Score and Song. That year also saw a vocal campaign to include the un-nominated Bette Davis for her performance in “Of Human Bondage” among the Best Actress nominees, prompting the Academy to allow write-ins on the final ballot. Two years later this practice was specifically disallowed in Academy rules.

The accounting firm of Price Waterhouse signed with the Academy in 1934 and has been employed ever since to tabulate and ensure the secrecy of the results. The ballots for the 80th Awards will be tabulated by PricewaterhouseCoopers, the name adopted by the firm in 1998.

In 1936 the first Academy Awards were presented in the Supporting Actor and Supporting Actress categories. The honors went to Walter Brennan for “Come and Get It” and Gale Sondergaard for “Anthony Adverse.”

The first presentation of the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award was made in 1937, with the honor going to Darryl F. Zanuck.

The Academy Award for Special Effects was added in 1939 and was first won by Fred Sersen and E. H. Hansen of 20th Century-Fox for “The Rains Came.” In 1963 the Special Effects award was split into two: Sound Effects and Special Visual Effects, in recognition of the fact that the best sound effects and best visual effects did not necessarily come from the same film.

In 1941 the documentary film category appeared on the ballot for the first time. In 1947, even before television increased the rest of the world’s interest in the Awards ceremonies, the Academy brought films from non-English-speaking countries into Oscar’s sphere. That year the first award to honor a foreign language motion picture was given to the Italian film “Shoe-Shine.” Seven more special awards were presented before Foreign Language Film became an annual category in 1956. In 1948 the Academy gave Costume Design a place on the ballot. The Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award was established in 1956 and presented that year to Y. Frank Freeman. A regular award for Makeup and the Gordon E. Sawyer Award for technological contributions were established in 1981. In 2001 the Academy added a new category, Best Animated Feature Film.

There have been only three circumstances that prevented the Academy Awards presentation from going off as scheduled. The first was in 1938, when destructive floods all but washed out Los Angeles and delayed the ceremony one week. In 1968 the Awards ceremony was postponed from April 8 to April 10 out of respect for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., who had been assassinated a few days earlier, and whose funeral was held on April 9. In 1981 the Awards were postponed for 24 hours because of the assassination attempt on President Ronald Reagan.

In 2003, when U.S. forces invaded Iraq the Thursday before the telecast, the show went on, but the red carpet was limited to the area immediately in front of the theater entrance, the red carpet bleachers were eliminated and the bulk of the world’s press was not able to photograph or interview guests as they arrived. In 2004 the red carpet was back in all its glitz and glamour. Attendance at the Academy Awards ceremony is by invitation only. No tickets are put on public sale.

Jodhaa Akbar money maker than Om Shanti Om

Getting a royal welcome on both sides of the Atlantic, Ashutosh Gowariker's Jodhaa Akbar, grabbed an estimated $1.3 million in North America and $750,000 in the United Kingdom over the weekend.

Factoring in the Gulf countries, the Caribbean and Australia, the three day haul could reach an awesome $3 million.

The film may not have crossover appeal to the mainstream audiences but anyone who reads the opening of The New York Times review may be tempted to see it. 'They may not make'em like they used to in Hollywood,' critic Rachel Saltz wrote, 'but sometimes in India they still do. Jodhaa Akbar... is filmmaking on the grand scale of Cecil B De Mille (The Ten Commandments), with romance, stirring battles, and enough elephants and gold to sink the Titanic [Images].'

The US box-office was especially impressive given the awful weather conditions in the Midwest.

"If the goodwill and enthusiasm for the film continues, and we at UTV feel it will, Jodhaa Akbar could make even more money than Om Shanti Om," said Lokesh Dhar for distributor UTV. "We are not looking at the success of this film in terms of another hit for UTV (which has distributed hits like Don). It could become the all-time highest grossing Bollywood film in North America."

Farah Khan's [Images] OSO starring Shah Rukh Khan [Images], who also produced it, grossed about $3.8 million in North America and holds the record.

KHUDA KE LIYE: First Pakistani film for Indian theatres

Depicting the difficult situation in which Pakistanis - and the Muslims in general - found themselves in after 9/11, registering its outright success in Pakistan, Dubai and London, Pakistani film KHUDA KE LIYE is the first film from that country to invade into the Indian theatres from March 28.

The interesting thing about the film, produced and directed by Shoaib Mansoor, is how it connects the happenings in three continents. Unlike the usual Indian and Pakistani films based on romantic sagas, dances and songs, this film is based on some very serious issues, raising a lot of controversial questions engaging the Muslim minds these days. It helps the Muslim youth find a direction... the right direction, for which all are looking towards.

The film's themes include the role of Muslim in Islam and the balance of Muslim values with moderate Western enlightenment.

KHUDA KE LIYE (In The Name of God) has Pakistani actors Shaan and Iman Ali in the male and female leads, while India's Naseeruddin Shah appears in a prominent role of a Muslim cleric.

This low-budget film, covering a vast canvas, stresses on the fact that it is more important to be a true Muslim at heart.

The story of the film revolves around two young Muslim musician brothers. One is settled in the US and the other is being led by fundamentalists.

Audiences and art critics across Pakistan have loved this film, but the conservative religious clergy have criticized it severely. However, the movie has been well received by overseas Pakistanis.

Last year, the film was also screened at the Goa Film Festival and was hugely appreciated. Percept Pictures is distributing the film in the Indian circles and the music is being released on Sony BMG.

Six-pack-abs -Bollywoods new trend

Salman Khan started the trend years ago. Shah Rukh Khan jumped on the bandwagon with Om Shanti Om and now Saif Ali Khan is in the Race claiming I 'Khan' too.

So what are we talking about? Abs…six pack! That is what Bollywood stars wear these days on the screen, not shirts.

They don't play roles any more, they fit into them helped by designers and trainers.

The leading ladies still keep their chests covered. Well, most of them. So they name drop their designers while the men talk about their trainers.

So if it's Neeta Lulla for Aishwarya Rai it is Prashant Sawant for Shah Rukh.

In between their shots the actors don't practice their dialogs. Why would they need to - the dialogs are 'sadak chaap'. Instead they do pushups and crunches so that their muscles ripple when the camera rolls again.

Even Aamir Khan is now ready to be counted amidst the 'Kool Khan Klan.'

For his role in the yet-untitled Ghajini remake he has already worked up six-pack-abs. Before he faces the camera he will not only shave his chest but also his head!

Nothing like a shaven head to go with a shaven chest and six packs! That could well be the new trend.

Van Damme's daughter in Salman Khan's Veer?

Vijay Galani's Veer directed by Gadar director, Anil Sharma, is a big budget extravaganza. The film has been in news because of its hero Salman Khan charging a never-heard-before packet of Rs 25 crore as his fee. Now, the Bollywood Hungama news break on the film is a strong possibility of Hollywood star Jean Claude Van Damme's daughter starring in the film in a crucial role. “Yes she is here, but I wouldn't want to talk about it. She is a big man's daughter. Har cheez finalise nahin hui hai,” says director Anil Sharma.

Sharma isn't willing to disclose anything about the film except that “It's a period film based in 1800.” He somewhat confirmed Salman's reported pay packet for the film and also said that Salman has been working hard on his physique. It seems he has to enhance his frame by one and a half times since he is playing a warrior in the film.

Van Damme sports a ferocious physique and is known world over for his international action packed films like Bloodsport, Lionheart, Universal Soldier, Double Impact etc. While searching on the net we found out he has two sons and only one daughter born in 1990 named Bianca from body builder Gladys Portugues. In all probability, Bianca will make a stinging debut in Bollywood soon. Considering both her parents are in physical sport, she must be a tough gal as well. And yes you read this big news first on Bollywood Hungama!
