Top five grossers of Indian cinema so far:
Sholay : Rs 157 crore
Mughal-e-Azam : Rs 128 crore,
Mother India : Rs 113 crore
Hum Aapke Hain Kaun : Rs 106 crore
Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge : Rs 95 crore
The question is will OSO or Saawariya beat these figures. Only time will tell. So far, the boxoffice report is as follows:
OM SHANTI OM is THE BIGGEST OPENING WEEK GROSSER IN HISTORY OF INDIAN CINEMA. It made over US$19 million across over 1,400 screens worldwide in its opening week, while Saawariya and Robert Redford-Tom Cruise political thriller Lion for Lambs made $13 million and $10 million respectively.
OSO made Rs 41 crore with 850 prints in India after the first week, while Saawariya earned Rs 20 crore through 650 prints.
Till now, the winner is Om Shanti Om.
