Salman's 'Wanted' hits theatres

MUMBAI: Bollywood actor Salman Khan's latest action movie "Wanted" didn't get favourable reviews from the critics but has done good business by earning about Rs.38 crore across the country in its first week.Surprisingly, it is the single screens where the movie has fared well compared to the multiplexes by generating 70 percent business."Till now, we had undermined the business contributed by the single screen theaters, but this film has made us realise that such theatres are still the bosses," said trade analyst Taran Adarsh.Said another trade analyst: "Single screen theaters have been historically known to cater to testosterone boosting movies - action dramas. 'Wanted' is exactly that kind of film. Then you have the price of the tickets, approximately less than half that of multiplexes, with the advantage of watching it on a 70mm screen. Quite naturally, audiences will choose single screens over multiplexes," he added.Exhibitor Manoj Desai of Gaiety Cinemas, a multiplex, believes that with "Wanted", single screens have finally shown their clout."'Wanted' has got the film industry and also the single screen cinemas out of the ICU. The film has got 100 percent collections till now and it is only going to get better," said Desai.Starring Salman in the lead, "Wanted" is a bone-cruncher about a guy who takes on a city filled with scum.

3. Kareena Kapoor: She won over our hearts with Jab We Met and shocked us with Tashan, but this bundle of talent is surely a force to be reckoned. Though many hits to her name, she charges a modest amount of 3.5 to 4 crores.

2. Priyanka Chopra: Dostana and Fashion happened. And then life changed for her. She has gathered quite a lot of fan following, and is very popular. She has hiked her price to about 5 crores after her successful films.

1. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan: Though not on the scene for quite a long time, this green eyed actress demands quite a high price. The Bachchan bahurani did burn her hands in Hollywood, with films like Mistress of Spice to her credit, but she has hiked her fees to about 6 crores. If she manages to do a Jodhaa Akbar, then it should be fine. Otherwise 6 crores for an Umraao Jaan or The Last Legion does seem a bit extravagant.

Prabhu Deva’s wife blazing against actress Nayantara

Prabhu Deva’s wife Ramlath has come out with all guns blazing against actress Nayantara. It’s no secret that Prabhu Deva and Nayantara seems to be having a clandestine affair. Just a few months back, there were strong rumours that Prabhu and Nayan got married in a secret ceremony.

Now, Prabhu Deva’s wife has told a vernacular daily down south that Nayan has snared her husband in her ‘maya jaal’.

“He (Prabhu Deva) is a gentleman. His affection for the family is really great. He still loves us a lot. But he is currently in the magic snare (maaya valai) of Nayantara,” Ramlath is quoted as saying by the daily.

She also revealed that she tried to ‘save’ her husband from Nayantara.

“I once talked to her over phone and requested to stay away from my husband. But she didn’t pay heed to my plea,” she disclosed.

Ramlath reportedly went on to say that Nayantara has had her share of romantic affairs in the past and also ditched some people. She fears that Nayan would do the same to her hubby.
“Prabhu Deva is a soft-hearted person. He may not be able to digest it if she cheats him,” she minced no words in speaking her mind.

Meanwhile, Nayantara is reported to have flown down especially from Kolkata to Mumbai to congratulate Prabhu Deva for his successful directorial debut in Bollywood - Wanted. In fact, rumours say the two saw the film together.

Salman's career best performance- WANTED

It’s time to bang the drums and blow the bugles. Salman Khan has risen again like a phoenix from the ashes. The star, whose career graph nosedived to an all time low with a spate of flops, is now basking in the success of his latest release Wanted which has set the cash registers ringing at ticket windows.

Producer Boney Kapoor is no less elated at the movie’s phenomenal run at theatres despite some competition from Yashraj Film’s well-marketed but bore of a film Dil Bole Hadippa.

To celebrate the film’s success, Salman and Boney are throwing a lavish party where their friends, families, and all the people who supported them will be invited.

Katrina Kaif, who flew in from Bhopal from a movie shoot to celebrate Eid with Salman, is also likely to extend her stay for this party.

Reports say even Farah Khan and Karan Johar have been invited. But no invitation has been sent to Shahrukh Khan, Vivek Oberoi and the Bachchans. Well, that’s understood.

The bash will most likely take place in Juhu. On menu will be both veg and non-veg delicacies. Salman is learnt to be taking personal interest in making sure that the most mouth-watering dishes are served at the party. Needless to say, there would be naach, gaana too.

After all, Salman is back into the reckoning.

After Rakhi, Rahul Mahajan show for 'life partner'

Mahajan is on a bride hunting mission with reality show 'RDLJ-Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jayega' in the second season of NDTV's Imagine's popular programme, which saw item-girl Rakhi Sawant getting engaged to NRI businessman Elesh Parjunwala.

Mahajan, who was in the capital today for the launch of his "Swayamwar", will be chased by 16 eligible beauties from different parts of the country, who will fight to become his bride.

"I want a genuine partner as my wife, fake attitude won't work for me. This is what I am looking forward to in my would be wife. One experience did not work out for me but I am optimistic to get my dream partner," Mahajan told reporters here.

Despite a failed marriage behind him, Mahajan is confident that he will get his dream partner through the 30-episode show. He is looking forward to tie the knot in March next year.

"I have everything in my life except for a perfect life partner and this platform will help me reach out to that person," Rahul, son of the late BJP leader Pramod Mahajan said.

He shot into limelight after a drug overdose incident which led him to the hospital. His marriage in 2006 to his sweetheart of 13 years Shweta Singh, hit the headlines after Shweta accused him of domestic violence. The marriage was dissolved through mutual consent later.

Mahajan made his foray into television with "Bigg Boss 2" where his proximity to female co-stars, especially Payal Rohatgi and Monica Bedi, kept the rumour mills busy.

He has become one of the emerging stars of reality shows with his success in "Bigg Boss", "Chhote Miyan" and now "RDLJ".

However, the show, which collected highest TRPs on the small screen is currently in the middle of a storm due to rumours of a break up between Rakhi Sawant and her chosen groom Elesh Parujanwalah, an NRI from Canada.

But Sameer Nair, the CEO of NDTV Imagine, has dismissed break-up rumours between Rakhi and Elesh.

"Our show is a platform to provide a life partner and if the couple do not end up together due to certain misunderstandings, the channel is not responsible for it," Nair said.

"As far as Rakhi 's break-up is concerned, I have not received any information about it. It can be a small fight or just a misunderstanding which is but natural in a relationship, this in no way will affect the credibility of the show," adds Nair.
