Asin to star opposite Shahrukh Khan

Mumbai: Looks like South Indian actress Asin Thottumkal is all set to play the female lead in Vishal Bhardwaj’s screen adaption of bestseller ‘Two States’. The film is based on the book by Chetan Bhagat and Sajid Nadiadwala is producing it. What more, superstar Shah Rukh Khan is going to play the lead role.

Asin is already working in Sajid’s other production, ‘Houseful 2’. The actress has apparently met the producer and director Vishal Bhardwaj to discuss the story of the story. Needless to say, the actress is very excited about the offer.

If all goes well, then Asin would be the first amongst her peers to have worked with all the three Khans. She has previously worked with Aamir Khan in ‘Ghajini’ and with Salman in ‘London Dreams’ and ‘Ready’.

There were rumours about Priyanka Chopra being offered the role and later Deepika’s name was also mentioned.

Speaking to a daily, a source said, "Asin is already a part of ‘Housefull 2’ and hence she often featured in the discussions about the casting for ‘2 States’. Sajid and Asin share a comfortable relationship and the actress was excited to be a part of the film, which not only features Shah Rukh but also will be directed by Vishal Bhardwaj. She is currently out of town but is expected to sign the papers as soon as she lands back in city.”

The source further added, “Vidya Balan too was being considered for the role after Priyanka Chopra, since the female lead in the film is South Indian. Asin fits the bill for the same reason.”

When contacted, Sajid Nadiadwala and Vishal Bhardwaj, both remained unavailable for comments.

The film's story revolves around a helpful boy, a girl forced into a marriage, a kidnapping, and a love story, of course, with many songs and dances, some action too all done in true Salam Khan style.

Producer Bhushan Kumar said recently in an interview with PTI that they are definitely building on the popularity of Salman's hit from last year Dabangg! "It was always there in our mind that we had to make the best use of Dabangg behind us. Even Salman thought the same and wanted the promo to convey this clearly."

Asin not happy with media channels

The one year old baby of B-town seems to be more despaired with continuous rumors being cooked about her. Earlier it was about her pettifoggeries with Salman Khan and now about refusing Farah Khan’s offer of ‘Happy New Year’.

The South Indian actress Asin shot to fame with her overnight success of ‘Ghajini’ in 2008. But, the fille has been drenched in absolute sadness with media channels incessantly penning gossips about her.

Dashed down in her spirits, Asin says, “I am really sickened with such stupid stories stirring up troubles. Salman Khan has been a great actor and fantastic person to work with. Both Sallu and my dad have been enjoying their time while filming on the sets of ‘London Dreams’. Interestingly, he had painted my dad’s portrayal and gifted him as a token of expressing his friendship.”

When asked about her Farhan-Happy New Year issue, she continued adding that she never approached her on this project. Says Asin: “Me and Farah are close friends and have spent more quality time to together. But she hasn’t approached me to star opposite SRK in Happy New Year. To be precise, she hasn’t yet completed her script works…”

Asin's next project is Ashutosh Gowariker's ‘Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey’ with Abhishek Bachchan which will take off shortly before December.

Salman's photos in Asin's bedroom!

The newest piece of goss from tinsel town is that there’s something brewing between Salman Khan and his London Dreams co-star Asin . The two have been bonding big time on the sets of the Vipul Amrutlal Shah movie and their chemistry has extended beyond their work, something that could become a cause of worry for Katrina Kaif , Sallu’s present girlfriend.

Rumours say Asin has become so fond of Salman that she has the walls of her bedroom covered with the snaps and posters of the 43-year-old star.A Mumbai tabloid even goes on to quote a source as saying that Salman has gifted a flat to Asin, who used to have permanent residence only in South till recently. Now, thanks to the said flat in Lokhandwala, she has a working base in Mumbai.

Another similar rumour doing the rounds in Bollywood is that of growing closeness between Preity Zinta and hotelier, businessman and small-time actor Vikram Chatwal . Cracks have reportedly appeared in Preity’s love life with longtime beau Ness Wadia, while on the other hand, Vikram’s marriage with Priya Sachdev is said to be on the rocks.

With their respective romantic affairs going through a rough patch, Preity and Vikram have begun bonding well, and the sparking chemistry between them was for all to see at the after party of Mai Mumbai show at Lakme Fashion Week.

Now, how much of fire is actually behind all this smoke will be known in the coming days.

Asin as cover girl of 'verve'

Sultry as sin, she brings a whiff of the beautiful south to tinsel town. After a scintillating debut opposite Aamir 'eight-pack' Khan in Ghajini, Asin is being hailed as the next big import from Kollywood into Bollywood, inviting comparisons with the legendary Sridevi.

Sona Bahadur meets the elfin beauty with the payasam voice to figure just what the fuss is all about.

It's the age of Asinnocence. Bollywood is under the spell of a doe-eyed siren who breezed in unannounced from the south of the Vindhyas last year and stole the show with her sensational debut in Ghajini, the mother of all blockbusters. Her sugarand-spice freshness has everyone talking. Critics have given her an A for acting. She's the flavour du jour. On a sunny February morning rife with the promise of spring, Asin poses for the Verve cover shoot. Whisper-hued dresses in the prettiest peaches, roses, ivories and lavenders vie for her attention as she dons the avatar of a modern day angel.

Gracefully languid on a couch in a diamante embellished white shift by Monisha Jaising, she's a vision of ethereal sexiness. A powder-blue animal print dress that gently skims her lush curves is next, followed by a gorgeous stone beige pleated georgette gown.

A jeans-and-tee girl off camera, Asin brings each softly-glam look to life like a dream. "She totally transforms in front of the camera. Amazing." remarks ace lensman Jatin Kampani between shots.

Lovely as a backwaters lotus with come-hither eyes that pack in the headiness of a potent Southern Comfort, Asin Thottumkal is beautiful in a conventional yet exotic sort of way. Oval face, arched eyebrows, chiselled nose and a generous, pout-friendly mouth that makes our make-up artist exclaim, 'What lips!'

Asin keeps distance with Salman

Currently busy shooting LONDON DREAMS Asin denies the report of being overtly friendly with co-actor Salman Khan.

And yeah, contrary to reports, no exchange of gifts happened on the sets! There was buzz that Salman Khan gifted a glamorous glass doll as a belated Onam gift to Asin. We recently bumped into Asin and asked her about her 'good friendship' with Sallu. She simply laughed and said, ''I don't know how to react to it because it's absolutely false. I have not got any gifts from Salman. In fact I read that he gave me a gift on Onam and I gave him a return gift on Eid...

We are shooting 24 x 7; there's no time to buy or exchange gifts. In fact when that news came out the whole unit was laughing...''

Now that was one helluva rumour gift wrapped!

Only man in Asin's life

The missy wouldn't have imagined her life would take a hectic spell with busy days and sleepless nights. And now stepping into Bollywood, things are happening Asin's way as she's there on top-of-world with her debut 'Ghajini' making high waves at box office. At the moment, the actress is busy shooting for Salman Khan's 'London Dreams' starring Salman Khan in the lead role along with Ajay Devagan.
Ask her who's the best Khan? Salman Ya Aamir? 'Mujhe Dhono Pasandh Hai' is her only answer who continues adding 'both of them have their unique potentials that makes them superstars. Of course, Shah Rukh Khan is yet another biggie with charismatic appeal'. The Ghajini-girl would be spotted extremely glamorous in Sallu's flick.

And how about her personal life?

'Well, we are a small family and I am elated to remain with my dad and mum. My father takes care of my career and my parents know my dreams and potentials'. So is there a favorite man – 'My dad is the only man in my life' adds the Mallu girl who hasn't been to her hometown for past one year.

Stardom gets inside Asin's head ;started behaving like a superstar

Asin

The overwhelming success of Ghajini seems to have got inside Asin's head. Despite being just one film old in Bollywood Asin has already started behaving like a superstar. The actress is believed to have thrown a bit of starry tantrums on the sets of Vipul Shah's London Dreams where she stars opposite Salman Khan.

Her chin up attitude was something senior make up artist Manzoor Khan could not stand and walked out of the sets. Producers however had to support Asin as the movie's shooting was half way and Manzoor was asked to leave the movie. Well hope Asin mends her attitude towards her work or else she might be another name in the list of 'one movie wonders'
