Aamir Khan's Workout Schedule & Diet Plan for hot Ghajini look

The buzz everywhere is about the Aamir Khan’s 6 pack abs and fighter like physique he has built for his forthcoming movie ‘Ghajini’. I read in an article how he worked hard in order look like this. I have mentioned some of the excerpts in this post.

It took Aamir Khan almost a year from March 15, 2007 to April 21, 2008 with three hours of workout every day to build that lean yet muscular physique.Mondays - chest and back, Tuesdays - arms, and Wednesdays - shoulders and legs was his workout schedule. Apart from this he was also doing half-hour to an hour cardio and abs everyday. As for abs I read he used to do 1,000 crunches everyday. Aamir Khan always managed to get eight hours of sleep. No matter what time he went to sleep, he did get eight hours of sleep every day which I think is really important because proper sleep gives enough rest to the muscles and helps in muscle growth and you will not get tired easily while workouts.

Aamir Khan credits his physique to diet as well. He had a balanced diet that included one-third fat, one-third carbs, one-third protein, and normal food like rotis, rice, sabzis, chicken and all cooked in 3 spoons of oil. Apart from this he used to have 16 egg whites, fruits, and four lts. of water every day. There was no sugar, no potatoes, no bananas, no red meat, no egg yolks and no fried stuff.

So building good physique revolves around Exercise, Sleep and Diet. All these 3 are inter-related. If you don’t sleep well you will not have enough strength for exercise and if you eat junk food without having healthy diet you develop fat in your body. So the right combination of all the 3 is important.

Aamir Khan’s diet:

* Daily intake is broken down into six small meals every two hours
* A small carb meal (banana, apple) before exercises that helps build energy. Avoid dairy products but can have buttermilk.
* Food cooked only in 3 tbs of olive oil or saffola
* Plenty of fresh vegetables and fruits
* Rotis made of three-grain wheat (bajra, jowar and atta)
* Snacks include biscuits, brown bread sandwiches, papaya (through the day)
* No carbs after 8 pm, but soups or juices are allowed
* One or two pieces of tandoori chicken for dinner or four egg whites. Can alternate that with vegetable soup, and bhurji with salads or omlette (of egg whites only)

Stardom gets inside Asin's head ;started behaving like a superstar

Asin

The overwhelming success of Ghajini seems to have got inside Asin's head. Despite being just one film old in Bollywood Asin has already started behaving like a superstar. The actress is believed to have thrown a bit of starry tantrums on the sets of Vipul Shah's London Dreams where she stars opposite Salman Khan.

Her chin up attitude was something senior make up artist Manzoor Khan could not stand and walked out of the sets. Producers however had to support Asin as the movie's shooting was half way and Manzoor was asked to leave the movie. Well hope Asin mends her attitude towards her work or else she might be another name in the list of 'one movie wonders'

Ghajini, No 8 Bollywood hit of all times

Ghajini, No 8 B'wood hit of all times

The last release of 2008 Ghajini has offered some solace to the recession-ridden industry. With a historic opening and a steady run, the film is now the eighth biggest hit of all times. What's more, the feat has been achieved in barely 12 days.

Ghajini has collected in seven days what Welcome made during its ENTIRE run at the box office. And in ten days, the film made as much money as Singh is Kinng.

The only films that are ahead of it in the list of Bollywood hits of all times are Gadar, HAHK, DDLJ, Dhoom 2, Krrish, OSO and Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (with a marginal lead).

Box office collections

Distributors in the Mumbai circuit collected whopping Rs 13 crore for Ghajini and Rs 8 crore for Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi.

In centres like Orissa where a business of Rs 5-6 lakhs makes any movie a super hit in the circuit, Ghajini managed to gross Rs 25 lakhs in the first week itself.

The total gross collections as of now for Ghajini stands at Rs 140 crore.

Most multiplex chains that registered between 90-100 per cent collections in the extended first weekend showed just a slight drop for the second weekend, having collections between 75-85 per cent.

Aamir's biggest overseas hit

Lagaan, Rang De Basanti or Fanaa never created such euphoria in the overseas market as Ghajini.

The film has managed gross a total of $ 6.5 million as of Sunday evening breaking records everywhere.

In North America it grossed $ 1.9 million, in the UK $ 0.7 million, and in the Middle East it made $ 1.5 million in the first week itself.

Trade talk

Veteran trade analyst, Amar Solanki says, "The kind of reputation Aamir has managed to generate, his fans are coming to watch it expecting a good product. But it is nowhere like his RDB, Lagaan or TZP. It is purely a commercial entertainer. So one can definitely term it as his goodwill hit. The critics have been slamming the film but it's still a super hit."

Amod Mehra says, "The film has brought smiles on a lot of faces in the trade and that's what is more important. Ghajini proves that even today a perfectly made commercial film has many takers. The only glitch is its length. The makers can definitely alter some portions and make it a much better watch."

Manoj Desai of G-7, Mumbai tells us, "The response has been good since the first day but the reactions to the film have been mixed. A general feeling is that the film won't have a repeat audience."

Aamir Khan's Fitness Secrets for Ghajini -Watch Video

Aamir Khan and Satyajit Chourasia
How Aamir trained for Ghajini

Ten years ago when Aamir Khan was on the lookout for a muscular man for a role in Ghulam, he spotted a youngster, who had come to Film City, with his brother. Aamir learnt that he was new to Mumbai, and was in the city of dreams to pursue a career in acting. The youngster auditioned, and Aamir saw that he could not act.

"I advised that boy to get into body building, as acting was not meant for him. He was better suited for that job," recalled Aamir.

Four years later, Aamir bumped into the youngster again. This time, he wasn't a struggling actor. Instead, he was responsible for giving Saif Ali Khan his new and improved fit look.

Today, that same youngster -- who goes by the name Sanjay Chourasia -- is responsible for giving Aamir his fab abs in Ghajini.

'Aamir gave me direction in life'

Chourasia, to this day, remains grateful to Aamir for guiding him well in life.

"He is like God to me," Chourasia says. "He gave me direction in life when I needed it the most."

"I could not believe that the same boy, whom I had suggested that he drop his acting aspirations, has become a well known trainer," said Aamir.

'He would scream in pain but would never give up'

But did the role require such rigorous training? "My director wanted me in that particular look so I thought I should give it a shot," Aamir said. "I didn't want to let him down."

But he admitted that there were times when he felt like giving up.

"There were days when I felt like quitting because some exercises were very painful," Aamir said. "But if you have determination, you can do it. I had a lot of fat content in my body. The end result could have been better but I was satisfied with what I achieved."

"I have worked with many people but I feel Aamir has extraordinary will power," Chourasia said. "He would scream in pain but would never give up."

'I have to lose weight all over again for Raju's film'

Did he lose sleep in his quest to get into shape?

"In fact, I slept well," Aamir said. "I slept eight hours everyday. You need to sleep well when you want to get in this kind of shape."

Did he take advice from the other muscle men in the industry? "Salman Khan and Hrithik Roshan gave me advice," he added. "Salman was one of the first actors of the industry to get into body building. His tips were helpful."

Did he take the help of steroids? "I don't believe in them," AAmir replied. "There are no short cuts for body building. Moreover, these steroids have side affects. Body building takes five years on an average but I gave my best shot, and got it in one year. I hope my fans like this new look in Ghajini."

"Aamir and I have worked four hours a day on an average, for 13 months. Even if he was busy with his films or other assignments, he would never miss his workout regime," Chourasia said.

Unfortunately, Aamir cannot keep his fab abs for long. He will have to lose weight for his new film, Rajkumar Hirani's Three Idiots.

"I have to lose weight all over again for Raju's film. I have to look like a college boy. I hope to get my Ghajini shape back after that film," Aamir said.

"It's like building a Taj Mahal and then destroying it," Chourasia concluded.

Ghajini, starring Aamir Khan, Asin and Jiah Khan, is a remake of a Tamil movie by the same name, is directed by A R Murugadoss and releases on December 25.
