Salman's jungle Adventure film in 3D!

"First of all I am not playing Tarzan in the film and it has got nothing to do with the character at all. It is an adventure film based in a jungle," clarified Salman Khan about his next endeavour with his brother Sohail.

While he dismisses any link to the famous man of the jungle in Sher Khan, the brothers are reportedly toying with the idea of making the film in 3D.

Our source told us, "It is Sohail's idea to make it in 3D. However, Salman bhai is still in two minds about this. Shooting in 3D is very difficult and going by the standards of special effects expected these days, the Khan brothers want everything to be sorted before they take the final call.

However, Sohail is quite confident given his technical finesse. He is known to be very hands-on, as far as his films are concerned. Plus the film is a jungle adventure and so it will be fun watching the film, if it is in 3D."

When asked about his scepticism to make the film in 3D, Salman explained, "As far as 3D goes, I am not sure. We are definitely thinking about it. However, 3D films have not worked in India and I am not too sure about its market."

When contacted, Sohail said, "I am still working on the script and only after the script develops, we will decide if it has 3D scope or not."

Producer considering re-release 'Tere Bin Laden'

Terror mastermind Osama bin Laden's death has led to an unlikely effect on Bollywood. There is a move afoot to re-release the Osama-spoof, Tere Bin Laden, in cinema halls and on satellite channels.

The film's producer, Pooja Shetty Deora, told TOI, "We are considering re-releasing the movie, but we have still not been able to contact our distributors in this regard. We will have to wait for a couple of days to gauge whether the public really wants to see the film in theatres all over again."

'A' certificate for Aakrosh

Ajay Devgn starrer Aakrosh is releasing with an 'A' certificate this week but the film's makers are not too worried as they say that the movie is aimed at a mature audience.

"Aakrosh wasn't designed as a kiddie flick in any case. This is a dramatic affair and inspired by true events that have been rocking the nation for a few years now. Honour killing is a serious issue and we want the adults in the country to wake up to this fact," producer Kumar Mangat told PTI.

When this Priyadarshan-directed film was presented before the Censor board, a huge list of cuts were suggested since the it makes a direct reference to honour killings and also carries a strong undertone of religion and political violence coupled with raw language.

"They wanted us to make more than a dozen odd cuts due to these factors. If we would have consented to that, Aakrosh would have got a U/A certificate," said Mangat.

"However, we couldn't agree on this. If we would have introduced those cuts, the core essence of the film would have been lost. The purpose of making this film was to expose the harsh reality of our society rather than delivering a sugar coated feel good message," he added.

The producer says that although the 'A' certificate is not desirable, but he is happy that they didn't have to compromise on the flavour of the film.

"It was not the best case scenario but still, given the circumstances, it is okay. Now there are only 3-4 cuts in the film but we are happy that we didn't have to compromise with the flavour. Omkara too was given an 'A' certificate but the film was a success and is hailed as a cult film. Such films
find their target audience so I am not worried," he said.

"With this film, we are happy to making our small contribution to the society. If Aakrosh can ruffle a few feathers and make our responsible society wake up to the atrocities being committed by some nefarious elements in this world, I would feel that it was worth it to make the film", said Mangat.

Aakrosh stars Ajay Devgn, Akshaye Khanna, Bipasha Basu and Paresh Rawal in principal roles with Reema Sen and Amita Pathak as strong supporting characters. Sameera Reddy and Urvashi Sharma have also been roped in for special item numbers that have been put to tune by Pritam. The film releases all over on October

Aamir Khan-Salman Khan bond over bike rides

In an industry rife with cut-throat competition where simmering emotions boil up in a series of verbal potshots now and then, Aamir Khan and Salman Khan have surprisingly been bonding like thick buddies.

Who can forget Salman’s personal ode to Ghajini when he painted Aamir’s portraits (in the Ghajini look) ahead of the film’s release last year. Though the SRK-Salman cold war may have driven a wedge through the industry and its camp-loyal folks, Aamir’s friendship with Salman has remained unaffected.

The two stars make it a point to meet and spend some time together whenever their busy schedules permit. But we now learn that they also go out for rides on Salman’s mobike when the streets of Mumbai are almost deserted in the dead of the night.

According to reports, Aamir first drives to Salman’s Bandra residence where he parks his car. Later, the duo ride out on Salman’s bike while a small pose of security guards follows them.

After the ride, the duo often sits down for a chat over a couple of drinks either at Salman’s place or at Aamir’s.

Sushmita Sen adopting another girl child

Sushmita sen adopt

Yesterday afternoon, Sushmita Sen was seen shopping at an international baby wear brand outlet at a well-known store in Linking Road, Bandra. She was accompanied by her Woman Friday Neelam, who she refers to as her sister. Sush was in blue jeans and grey tee and was seen trying out a baby sling carrier. Both were doing a survey of all the baby stuff on display.

This lends credence to a very strong buzz that the actress is looking for a sibling for her daughter Renee รข€” has she already found one? The reclusive Sush has always wanted to be a mommy for the second time (by adopting another child). More importantly, to provide company to Renee.

Process in motion
It is reliably learnt that last week the actress visited an adoption centre with her staff and doctor to select a new bundle of joy. A source says, "She became particularly fond of a newborn but then it was found that the baby was too young."

Over two years ago, there was buzz that she was thinking of adopting another girl child.
The source adds, "Sush wants to complete her family with another child, preferably female. She has already made inquiries and begun visiting such centres. The actress is keen that she adopts another baby soon."
The unconventional actress who has always lived life on her own terms became a single mom in 2000 when she adopted Renee.

Sushmita remained unavailable for comment.

Mere Baap Pehle Aap : Akshaye and Priyadarshan together

Akshaye Khanna is on cloud nine and rightly so! His work in Race has come in for tremendous appreciation and, most importantly, its success at the box-office has only added to the excitement.

Shooting for Shortkut in Bangkok, the actor says that no one expected Race to work in such a big way. “Of course, all of us were confident that it would work big time, but the numbers have caught everyone unawares,” he says.

Akshaye, who has worked with some of the biggest names in the business, is now looking forward to working with Akshay Kumar some day. “Imagine the two of us in one movie,” he states, “And only two people can achieve the impossible—Abbas-Mustan and Priyadarshan. In fact, they've been toying with the idea of casting us in a movie, but haven't found the right script yet.”

Akshaye is looking forward to his next release Mere Baap Pehle Aap, which brings Akshaye and Priyadarshan together after a gap of few years. “It's a fabulous film. In fact, I'd like to say that it's Priyan's best film so far,” he says. Coming from someone whose name is synonymous with qualitative cinema, it only increases the expectations from this film.

Sonam Kapoor with Shahrukh khan: Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi

It’s final now. Sonam Kapoor will star opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Aditya’s Chopra’s Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. There has been a lot of speculation about casting for this role. Extensive talent hunts were organised by Yashraj Films to scout for just the right girl with the authentic Punjabi look who will play a 16-year-old in the film. Hundreds of authentic Punjabi kudis participated in the auditions held in Punjab. Aditya Chopra himself went through the shortlist, but found no one suitable. Back home in Mumbai, Yashraj receives bio-datas by the dozen every week…

However, it turns out that the girl they needed was right under their nose all the time. Our very own Sonam Kapoor of Sanjay Bhansali’s Saawariya fame.

Our sources say, “Aditya Chopra was very keen to have a tall, fair Punjabi girl for the role opposite Shah Rukh Khan. He has himself written the script and knows exactly what he wants in his heroine. The film deals with the love story of a 40-year-old man and a 16-year-old girl. Adi was also very finicky about signing the right girl because he was making his comeback to direction after a gap of eight years and wanted to get everything just so.”

Shutter - film trailer and review

Shutter is a film that comes from the executive producers of The Grudge and The Ring. In Shutter, a newly-married couple discovers disturbing, ghostly images in photographs that they develop after a tragic accident. They investigate the scene further and stumble upon the fact that past mistakes can lead to an eternity of vengeance.

Ben (Joshua Jackson), a photographer and his wife Jane (Rachael Taylor) arrive in Tokyo for Ben’s assignment on a fashion shoot. The couple takes their trip to the Japanese capital as a working honeymoon.

As they make their way towards Mt. Fuji, their car smashes into a woman standing in the middle of the road. The woman appears from nowhere and vanishes into thin air after the crash. Shocked with the incident Ben and Jane try to move on with the assignment.

Ben is no stranger to Japan and is fluent with its language, which makes him comfortable in the alien environment. Jane on the other hand feels alienated and finds it hard to get used to the new city.

Ben discovers mysterious white blurs in his photographs from the fashion show. Jane believes the blurs in Ben’s photos are from the dead girl from the road, who seeks vengeance from them for leaving her to die.

“Shutter is based on a 2004 Thai film of the same name, which became the highest-grossing film in Thailand that year. A girl suddenly appears, gets hit by a car and disappears, only to return to haunt the perpetrators. But with its twists and shocks, the film subverted audience expectations, revealing itself to be much more than a simple ghost story. We remade the film keeping in mind the wider international sensibilities.

"Shutter is based around the subject of paranormal and spirit photography and I must say Japanese audiences are very familiar with it. Everyone in Japan at one point or another has had a sleepless night after being exposed to spirit photography.

"Spirit photography is so popular in Japan because ghosts mean more to the Japanese people than to Americans. In Japan, ghosts don’t have to do anything to be scary. In American ghost stories, they have to wreak all kinds of havoc to make an impact.”

Bollywood Diwali Releases

Although we're several months away from Diwali, several dream merchants have already set their eyes on the festive week. In fact, a number of films have already been confirmed for release in the festive week this year. Sometime back, we had told you that Subhash Ghai's YUVRAAJ, Ashtavinayak - Rohit Shetty's GOLMAAL RETURNS and Yash Raj's ROADSIDE ROMEO [an animation film produced in association with Walt Disney] have already locked the date [October 24]. There's talk that Karan Johar is also bringing DOSTANA [Abhishek, Priyanka, John] on this date.

Now here's a piping hot development pertaining to the Diwali week. Nikhil Advani's CHANDNI CHOWK TO CHINA, which marks the foray of Hollywood giant Warner Bros. in Hindi films, is also confirmed for Diwali. Not on October 24, but on October 29. Not on a Friday, but on a Wednesday.

Reason being, people would be busy with the festivities and visiting each other all through the festive week. The occupancy at movieplexes, therefore, might take a hit during certain days. The business would only escalate once the festivities and festival-related ceremonies get over. Hence, it's October 29 for CHANDNI CHOWK TO CHINA.
