Salman Khan and Katrina in ‘Ek Tha Tiger’

Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif literally join hands and wrap arms for the upcoming Yash Raj Film Ek Tha Tiger.

The duo surely harbours no grouse against each other after the break-up last year and was completely at ease shooting for a special photoshoot for the film at Salman’s house. The images from the shoot are out and we present them to you.

Ek Tha Tiger is based on a story written by Aditya Chopra. This is Salman’s first film as a hero with the Yashraj banner.

Talking about the film, Salman says that he and Aditya have talked about various projects in the past, but nothing materialized.

“In the past Adi and I have met a few times on various projects but somehow, when Kabir and he came to me with this particular story, we all just knew that this was the one. It is a very ambitious project and will be a challenge for all of us, but that's exactly what makes it such a big draw. Above all this, I’m honoured to be working with Yashji, who has worked so closely with my Dad in the past,” Salman is quoted to have said.

The film’s shoot will begin in July. Its music will be by Pritam and cinematography will be by Aseem Mishra (DoP of Kabir Khan’s New York). The screenplay and dialogues have been penned by Kabir Khan along with Nilesh Misra.

Katrina Kaif advised bed rest

As her hemoglobin count continues to plummet, Katrina’s health is causing distress to all those who know her. Everyone around Katrina, wellwishers, co-stars, friends and family are beginning to be extremely worried about Katrina’s deteriorating health. On Sunday she was again at a suburban hospital to take further tests as her haemoglobin count continued to fall, despite treatment from the best doctors in the city. Though Katrina has been extremely selective recently about the appearances she makes, she is obviously still straining too much and it is affecting her adversely. On Sunday Katrina woke up unable to get out of bed. The worst blow to her frail energy level was the hectic wedding of Salman Khan’s close family-friend Krishan Narayan’s daughter which Katrina attended for two consecutive nights on Friday and Saturday for the sangeet and wedding. Forgetting her delicate health, Katrina had simply let herself go, dancing and having a good time. A friend explained, “It was a commitment she couldn’t wriggle out of. The bride’s father, an associate of politician Praful Patel, is a very close friend of Salman Khan. And Katrina who has always looked at Salman’s friends as her own, had to be there.” The result of two consecutive nights of merry-making was a relapse. On Sunday Katrina had to undergo a series of complicated medical tests that went on the whole day The friend continued, “Katrina’s haemoglobin count continues to plummet. The doctors are perplexed by this. They can’t figure out what is causing this abnormality in her blood. She has been prescribed complete bed rest.” When contacted, Katrina tried to dismiss her indisposition with. “I will be just fine. I just need to rest.”

Aamir, Katrina launch coffee table book

Mumbai, Aamir Khan and Katrina Kaif have launched “Cine Blitz Gold Love and Longing in the Hindi Cinema”, a coffee table book that pays tribute to the Hindi film industry. Both actors are excited about their look on the cover, as it resembles the poster of Guru Dutt and Waheeda Rehman in “Pyaasa”.

“I was wondering whether we would get it right and how close we would come to the original. My effort went into trying to bring Guru Dutt back into life. It was a great moment for me,” he said Monday at the launch of the book.

Katrina said: “When I was asked first, I was very surprised. But it was very special being able to recreate such a magical moment.”

The book was released to celebrate 35 years of CineBlitz, which is published by VJM Media Private limited. Its Chairman Vijay Mallya said that when editors Nishi Prem and Subhash Gupte came up with the idea, he got excited.

“I was excited to capture the essence, romance and brilliant works of Indian cinema for over so many years. I thank Aamir and Katrina for their time and cooperation and for all they did to make this happen,” said Mallya.

“We have produced something of which we can be proud,” he added.

Arun Guru Dutt, son of legendary director-actor Guru Dutt, was present on the occasion. He said: “I am very happy as they have taken a lot of care while taking the photograph.”

The book has been filled with images from late Raj Kapoor starrer “Awara” to Madhur Bhandarkar’s “Fashion”, articles, quotes of yesteryear actors and actress and the current lot as well.

Katrina Barbie dolls

The much-awaited Barbie dolls made inspired by Katrina Kaif finally reaches India. Made by Mattel Toys, the dolls are not to be sold but made to commemorate 50 years of Barbie dolls.

Interestingly the Barbie made inspired by Katrina sports the costume worn by the actress when she walked on the ramp in a fashion show earlier this year.

Katrina, at the peak of her career in Bollywood, has been doubly delighted by this. Though she is yet to see the doll as she is busy with the promotions for her next film, she says she would meet the Katty doll soon.

Gossip mills are running rapidly again in industry circles claiming that Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif have finally headed towards a split.

Just when the news is out the couple is seen together at events again there have also been reports that Salman Khan’s over possessive nature has widened the gap between the two. The couple has never openly spoken about their relationship but yet stood strongly besides each other in the hour of need.TEveryone in the industry knows that Salman helped Katrina at a time when she was new to the industry. Her debut venture Boom in 2003 was a box office disaster and Salman was his peak of success with films like Baaghban and Mujhse Shaadi Karoge had just been released.


That is when Salman Khan was introduced to this new comer who had nobody in the industry and was all set to try her luck with good looks and anglicized accent. Apart from a few commercials Katrina Kaif had not signed any film. That is when Salman Khan came to her rescue as her knight in shining armour.


His family accepted her graciously and she became a part of the entire Khandaan. They went on do films together like Maine Pyaar Kyon Kiya in 2005 which failed to appeal the audiences. Their next David Dhawan’s Partner was a hit but they were not paired opposite each other.

Their latest offering Subhash Ghai went to become another box office failure. Though they have been accepted as an offscreen couple they still haven’t managed to create the same magic on screen.

Katrina in the mean time went on to do films with other heroes and churned out one hit after the other. Slowly and steadily she climbed the ladder of success finally conquering the pedestal of the number one position.

Be it films; commercials or endorsements the Katrina has made her place secure everywhere. Yet she humbly states, “I feel lucky and privileged and have been bless that God has answered all my prayers. I am trying to give my best and am working hard. The whole journey has been wonderful. What more can I say.”

Today their positions are reversed. Salman has had a series of flops to his credit at the box office amongst them the recent ones being God Tussi Great Ho, Yuvraaj. Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif married?

New Delhi: Actress Katrina Kaif has demanded a formal apology from the Shiv Sena mouthpiece Saamna for saying that she was married to Salman Khan.

This after Saamna carried a special article written by Salman's father Salim Khan saying that his 44-year-old son has already tied the knot with his long time girlfriend Katrina.
Katrina has denied the report and Salim Khan now says he has been misquoted.

"Salim sahab has already said that he has been misquoted or perhaps the reporter who was taking the interview misunderstood. Let's give the reporter a benefit of doubt that it was a mistake," she told CNN-IBN.

"I definitely thinks that Saamna should issue a clarification if not an apology because it's not a small thing. It's not the news of a movie or some endorsement that one has signed. It's a big think to make a mistake about somebody's life like this. And I think a clarification is a must because I know for a fact that Salim sahab has definitely not said anything and one should be careful while reporting for such a major newspaper and while writing articles," she added.

She said that her managers have spoken to the editors at Saamna and that they were assured of a corrigendum.

"People who read Saamna are regulars so when they open the paper tomorrow, there should be a clarification in the paper. They should say that they were misinformed or the misprinted and that's it. I think the matter should be ended then and there," she stated.

The trailer was released in theatres along with this weekend's big release from the banner: Shah Rukh Khan starring Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi.

Kabir Khan had earlier helmed Kabul Express (2006) for Yash Raj Film, a film which won critical acclaim but fared poorly at the box office.

New York, a romantic thriller is based on international terrorism and set in New York. John, Katrina and Neil play three friends discovering a new world. One day the world around them changes completely and they realize that the common thread between them is their religion. Irrfan Khan plays an investigating officer.

Yuvvraaj disappointed , thrown out of theatres

Subhash Ghai's latest offering, Yuvvraaj has been one helluva disappointing film. The film not only opened to a below average response in the multiplexes, it also got a severe thrashing by the critics. The word of mouth spread about the film was completely negative. A lot was expected from the real life jodi – Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif having being paired romantically first time together but their on screen chemistry appeared completely thanda.

Industry trade sources tell us, "The film opened to 30-40% in all the major multiplexes on Friday but the collections actually dropped down further as Sunday came. Then on Monday it went lower to a poor 20-25%. Later, as the week progressed one saw just 30-40 people patronizing its show in most of the multiplexes. At some places even in big cities, the response dwindled so low that the multiplexes were left with no option but cancel some of Yuvvraaj's shows."
"Salman's last project, God Tussi Great Ho had met with almost a similar fate and it was necessary for him to deliver a hit in Yuvvraaj. But more than him it is the showman to be blamed for disappointing everybody, including Salman. It is learnt that some portions of the movie have been re-edited. But now it's too late!" the source further added.

Katrina and SRK together in Yash Raj’s next film

Yash Chopra is going back to directing a film after a gap of four years. The shoot for this film begins in January 2009. Chopra has managed a casting coup of sorts bringing Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif together.

After the infamous brawl between the two Khans, Salman and Shah Rukh, at Katrina’s birthday party, it was taken for granted that Salman’s girlfriend will not star in any of the projects starring King Khan. But the actress broke the ice and went ahead with SRK’s Temptations world tour in Dubai.

Now sources claim, when Chopra personally went and met her for this role, she just could not refuse. It was a dream come true for her since working under the Yash Raj Films banner with Yash Chopra directing is still an aspiration for many actors.

Katrina was supposed to do Yash Raj Films’ Bachna Ae Haseeno earlier but later refused to do the movie. She is in Yash Raj Films’ next film, New York, directed by Kabir Khan starring Neil Nitin Mukesh and John Abraham.

200 gowns for Katrina Kaif in Yuvvraaj
