Mohanlal becomes honorary Lt Colonel in the Territorial Army

New Delhi: It was a celebrity push for the Indian Army when it got itself a brand ambassador by enlisting southern superstar Mohanlal as an honorary Lt Colonel in the Territorial Army. And for once, it was the celebrated film actor who had stars in his eyes.

“It is an amazing moment. My family is with me in one of the best moments of my life,” Mohanlal said.

In reel life Mohanlal tackled the role of an Army man in two recent films. The successful Keerthi Chakra in 2006 saw him don the role of a Major while more recently in Kurukshetra he played a Colonel fighting the Kargil war.

The actor will be affiliated to the Kannur Terriers, a Territorial Army unit under the Madras Regiment.

To the star, the Army's olive green uniform has been the most powerful symbol of service to the nation.

“They asked me to be the brand ambassador of the Territorial Army. So it a great honour for me,” Mohanlal said.

A lot of effort went behind the actor’s crisp salutes as Army Chief General Deepak Kapoor welcomed Mohanlal into the fold of the citizen soldiers. An ustaad from the Indian Military Academy put Mohanlal through a crash course in military etiquette to prepare him for the induction.

Meanwhile, Defence Minister AK Antony, who too belongs to Kerala, was overjoyed at the turn of events. “This will be an inspiration for the younger generation to join the armed forces,” Antony said.

Like cricket icon Kapil Dev who enlisted in the Territorial Army in 2008, Mohanlal's role will be to inspire youth to join the armed forces and spread some stardust in the barracks.

His message is that it's cool and aspirational to join the Indian Army.

Michael Jackson had lethal levels of powerful painkiller

MJ died of a deadly drug cocktail: Report

Michael Jackson had lethal levels of powerful painkiller Demerol and heroin substitute methadone in his body when he died, a report said.

Tests show the tragic star had taken a cocktail of drugs strong enough to kill any normal person instantly.

But he had been on vast quantities so long his body became tolerant to huge doses - until his fatal collapse on June 25.

The shocking findings are in preliminary toxicology reports submitted to the Los Angeles county coroner's office.

The contents were revealed as sources predicted MJ's death could result in manslaughter or even murder charges. Lethal levels of Demerol, Methadone and anti-anxiety drug Xanax were found in his blood tests.

Also present were lower levels of Propofol - an anaesthetic for hospital use only, but which Jackson used as a sleeping draft.

A significant amount of narcotic Dilaudid, normally used to numb post-surgery pain, was also discovered.

Rakhi Ka Swayamvar : It is Bigger than Aishwarya -Abhishek Wedding

Heard this?? No, it’s not us, but loud- mouthed sexy item girl Rakhi Sawant, who has been proclaiming from roof tops that her wedding, which is to be held after a suitable boy is selected through her Swayamvar on a television channel, will be bigger and grandeur than that of Aishwarya Rai.

Rakhi Sawant is currently shooting in Udaipur, Rajasthan, for a reality show ‘Rakhi Ka Swayamvar’ for NDTV Imagine. However, what has foxed the viewers is Rakhi Sawant’s coy behavior before her suitors, who are taking part in the reality show.

On her bindaas image in public, Rakhi says that it was a carefully cultivated imagery of hers to keep the trouble- makers away. Otherwise, she would not be able to survive in the big bad world of entertainment industry.

Meanwhile, the latest from the set of the show is that Atirek Sharma, one of the contestants on ‘Rakhi Ka Swayamvar’, tried to enter Rakhi’s room around 8.30 pm to meet her in private and convince her of his suitability for the wedding. However, Atirek could not succeed, as bouncers posted at the door of Rakhi’s room, prevented him from entering.

Sources close to Atirek Sharma say that he was friend of Rakhi Sawant’s ex-beau Abhishek Awasthi for almost fifteen years, but ditched his friendship to wed Rakhi and take part in the show. Atirek and Abhishek both belong to Kanpur city in northern India.

Though, the format of the NDTV Imagine’s show requires Rakhi Sawant to marry the winner of the show, audiences are not convinced that she would agree to marry someone selected from the lot.

Whatever, the audience might think of Rakhi Sawnt and her wedding through a reality show, but the sexy item girl is convinced that it would be far more glamorous and grandeur than Aishwarya Rai’s wedding. It may be recalled that Aishwarya Rai is married to Abhsihek Bachchan, son of living legend of bollywood Amitabh Bachchan.

But Rakhi is so sure……in any case…..nobody can win an argument with Rakhi…….so leave her daydreaming!!

Abhishek used me: Rakhi Sawant

Abhishek used me: Rakhi Sawant

Rakhi Sawant who is known for her sharp tongue and her abrupt ways has admitted to being 'used' and also broken-hearted.

The lady who is the object of many men's desires and the most talked-about bride-to-be thanks to her televised swayamvar that is currently going on on NDTV Imagine, says that her relationship with ex-boyfriend Abhishek Awasthi was deliberately broken by their own family members.

An admittedly heartbroken Rakhi places the blame on her own mother as well as Abhishek's mother and domestic help for the relationship that lasted four years not resulting in marriage.

Rakhi is, however, also critical of Abhishek, who, she claims 'used' her as a stepping stone to make his base in the industry which is otherwise not welcoming of outsiders.

She insists that she used her contacts to establish him as a choreographer and as soon as his work was done, he dumped her and started dating Shradha Sharma.

This is yet another example that Rakhi quotes as evidence of being unlucky in love, another reason why she is looking for true love through the swayamvar.

Shah Rukh honoured with doctorate by UK university

DR SHAH RUKH KHAN: The actor attends a ceremony to receive an honorary doctorate from the University of Bedfordshire, UK.

London: After Amitabh Bachchan and Shilpa Shetty it is Shah Rukh Khan’s turn to don a ‘scholarly’ hat. On Friday he was conferred an honorary doctorate by the University of Bedfordshire for his contribution to arts and culture.

Dressed in ceremonial robes, King Khan was his usual charming self.

“My wife is here too. She thinks being a doctor is really serious stuff. Of all my achievements as an actor, this one is a special achievement,” says the actor.

And just like his acting roles, Shah Rukh wants to take his scholarly duties seriously.

“I will entertain like Walt Disney where he says I will entertain and help people learn. But if you are asking if I will make films to teach people ABC then I doubt it, you won’t see them. But I will make films that people can go and see for three hours and then come back and study hard for their exams,” promises Shah Rukh.

Apart from film awards, the actor was honoured with the Padmashri in 2005. Internationally he was conferred the Order of The Arts and Literature Award by the French government in 2007 and last year Malaysia's Datuk Honour, similar to British Knighthood.

After receiving the honour Shah Rukh tells what he does with all the honours and awards.

“On one wall, where I have my personal desk, where I keep my scripts, I have the Padmashri, the French honour, the Malaysiann honour and this one will also go there. The Filmfare awards are in front of me so I am like a megalomaniac, self-centered person who likes to be surrounded by his awards,” he says.

Sania Mirza Engagement Pictures

She might be used to scoring on the tennis court, but India's tennis sensation Sania Mirza is all set to win the match of her life. This one, of course, involves a love different from the points.

The famous Mirza girl from Hyderabad is reportedly all set to become a pretty bride pretty soon. But she will remain a Hyderabadi and a Mirza as well. That's because Sania is reportedly getting engaged as early as in July to Muhammad Sohrab Mirza, a 23-year-old B.com graduate from Hyderabad.

Sohrab and Sania have known each other for a few years. Their families have been friends. Sohrab is planning to go to the UK to pursue an MBA degree.

Sania herself is away in Paris playing in the French Open, and it was her father Imran Mirza who confirmed the reports of her engagement.

"This is to confirm that Sania Mirza is engaged to Mr. Muhammad Sohrab Mirza, whose family hails from the city of Hyderabad. Although not related, the two families have had friendly ties for several decades. However, the wedding is not expected to take place for a while," Imran Mirza said.

But will this mean the end of Sania, the Hyderabadi hurricane?

No, says her family, insisting Sania will continue to score 15-love and 30-love on the tennis court for at least some more time.

Rakhi to wear Rs 3 mn necklace on 'swayamvar' day

Rakhi Sawant surely couldn't have asked for more. A Rs 30 lakh (Rs 3 million) necklace designed by Farah Ali Khan, a lehenga-choli wedding dress by celebrity designer Neeta Lulla, a 'swayamvar' on national television and a grand wedding to be watched by millions across the country.

The 'item girl', who has had a rags-to-riches career, will marry on NDTV Imagine's reality show Rakhi Ka Swayamvar soon. She will choose her "perfect man" from among nine grooms who have come from cities like New Delhi, Mumbai, Rishikesh, Jaipur and Kanpur and even from places as far off as Toronto.

National award winning designer Neeta Lulla, who is one of Aishwarya Rai's favourite designers, and ace jewellery designer Farah Khan Ali have been roped in to help Rakhi look her best on her D-day. And the two are doing every bit they can to fulfil the bride-to-be's wish to look like a "princess" that special day.

"Rakhi told us she wants to look like a princess that day - something like she has never looked before. I have given her a very colourful ensemble - it's a very conservative outfit," Lulla told IANS over phone from Mumbai.

"For her wedding day, Rakhi would be wearing a lehenga-choli in five different colours with ornate kundan work to give her an ethnic Rajasthani look," said Lulla, who has designed Aishwarya's clothes in movies like "Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam", "Devdas" and more recently "Jodhaa Akbar".

To complement her outfit, Rakhi will be donning traditional Indian jadau jewellery designed by Farah Ali Khan, the daughter of yesteryears actor Sanjay Khan and well-known interior designer Zarine Khan.

"The choker that Rakhi will be wearing for her wedding day is very heavy. It looks very traditional and covers almost her entire neck," she said.

According to Khan, the choker costs approximately Rs 3 million. However, Lulla has refused to divulge the price tag of her outfit.

The two designers are not only putting their creative instincts together for Rakhi's wedding day but also for the sangeet and mehendi (pre-wedding) ceremonies.

For the sangeet, Rakhi decided to opt for an Indo-Western look in blue. Lulla says it is a very contemporary outfit. To match the dress, Khan has given her an elaborate diamond neck piece, which also costs around Rs.3 million.

If both the designers are to be believed, Rakhi was extremely "accomodating" to their suggestions but gave her inputs as well.

"Rakhi told me that her earrings shouldn't be very heavy so that she can dance freely. She also said that I should design ornaments which don't break," said Khan.

If this wasn't enough, model-turned-fashion co-ordinator Marc Robinson has also been roped in to groom Rakhi's prospective grooms, who are vying to marry the former item girl through the reality show.

Rakhi's wedding will take place as soon as she zeroes in on an eligible bachelor for herself on NDTV Imagine's show Rakhi Ka Swayamvar - a move that has left a lot of people in tinsel town shocked.

Shruti Hassan sizzles in Bikini in Luck

Kamal Haasan’s daughter Shruti Haasan is set to make her debut in Bollywood in ‘Luck’ directed by Soham Shah.

Shruti carries off her debut in style and will be seen in some sizzling bikini shots.
The actor said she had no qualms about donning a bikini as “the script demanded it.” (Haven’t we heard these lines from Kareena Kapoor recently?) Shruti, who shot in a two-piece in the ice cold temperature of Cape Town, said, “It was like any other scene. I felt no difference.” Shruti said she knew she’d have to do such scenes as soon as she heard the script.

The bold character that she plays in the movie demanded a few bold scenes. The scene involved Imran Khan, Ravi Kishen and Mithun Chakraborty. Shruti’s bikini has been designed by Soham’s wife Binal Shah.

Seems like Shruti wants to head straight up the ladder in Bollywood with her debut movie. Wonder what papa Kamal Haasan’s take on his daughter’s bikini act is.

Shiney Ahuja's bail plea rejected

MUMBAI (Reuters) - A city court on Wednesday rejected the bail application of Bollywood actor Shiney Ahuja who is in prison on charges of rape, prosecutors said.

The actor, who has been sent to judicial custody till July 16, had applied for bail on the grounds that he was falsely implicated by his maid.

"The court has refused to grant him bail," Chief Public Prosecutor Ramnath Kini told Reuters.

"The prosecution argued that Ahuja, being a well known personality and a moneyed person, could tamper with witnesses."

Ahuja, 36, has been in jail since June 15, a day after he was accused of raping his maid at his Mumbai residence.

The actor, who made his debut with the critically-acclaimed film "Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi" in 2003, faces a prison sentence of at least seven years if found guilty of rape, criminal intimidation and wrongful confinement charges.

Kambakkht Ishq - Review

Film: “Kambakkht Ishq”
Cast: Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor
Director: Sabbir Khan
Rating: ***

There’s no business like show-off business. And “Kambakkht Ishq” has plenty to show off. Fabulous Hollywood locales, Hollywood icons like Sylvester Stallone and Brandon Routh doing cameos and above all, crackling and smouldering chemistry between the film’s lead pair.

Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor make a super glamorous couple. Even when they’re ready to bite off each others’ heads, call each other names and scream like a double-banshee delight at a horror festival, there is just no way the compatibility of the combo can be repeated … even by them.

Indeed if the supreme silliness of the plot in “Kambakkht Ishq” works it’s because of Akshay and Kareena’s glorious goofiness. The lead pair, never in better form, gets into the grandly caricaturish groove effortlessly and convincingly.

For Akshay and Kareena it’s hate at first sight. They pass sexist remarks about the opposite sex loud enough for the other to hear. They continuously carp about the vices of being of the opposite sex in a world polluted by bigotry and gender bias. Goodness, these two despicable creatures deserve each other!

The battle of the sexes is loud and aggressive, designed to create a cacophony of conflicts that leave us reeling in stupefied embarrassment.

Sure, we’ve seen other films about a goofy man and stuck-up woman who can’t stand each other. But none so engrossed their own self-serving hemispheres.

Seemingly rudderless and often risque, “Kambakkht Ishq” is a film that doesn’t endear itself with its plot. It’s all about the styling often at the cost of what most moviegoers think of as substance.

But there is no real substance in “Kambakkht Ishq”. The storyline is wispy slim and the gasbag gags are as cheesy as the goofy grin that Akshay wears like second skin. The veneer of vivacity seldom falls off, though admittedly some episodes wear us out with their svelte jibes at that old and baffling thing called the man-woman relationship.

The film is a no-holds-barred gender war - tangy, spicy and supremely smug in its silliness. And Akshay’s character slowly realises that there’s more to love than scoring.

The farce fest miraculously manages to sustain the mood of zany fun most of the way. But some episodes like Boman Irani’s cameo appearance as a shrink fall flat.

But as far as eye-catching locales and protagonists go, “Kambakkht Ishq” goes a long way. The Akshay-Kareena pair just makes you stare. And if you are into clothes and accessories you could spend an evening with “Kambakkht Ishq” just checking out what Kareena wears and how well she carries it off.

Akshay’s comic timing has now been honed to a fine art. He invests his completely caddish character’s personality with a frank and fearless arrogance that borders on megalomania but finally settles on being plain outrageous.

Kareena matches him step by step. Just because she looks like a million bucks doesn’t mean her performance is cosmetic too. Her satirical expressions as a man-hater are to die for.

Debutant director Sabbir Khan knows how to bring out the beast in his characters and milks the outrageous situations for all their mirth. Somewhere in this jokey binge of gender wars, Sylvester Stallone pops up for two of the film’s most arresting sequences.

But ‘Superman’ Brandon Routh is utterly wasted.

Where else but in Bollywood would Routh come across such a farcical feast designed in a slick-flick format where the hero is operated on by a supermodel who moonlights as a surgeon and leaves a watch in the hero’s stomach?

The watch chimes a Hindu mantra into Akshay Kumar’s ears ad nauseum. He’s of course maddeningly annoyed. We’re by then beyond that point.

Applaud this film for its audacity, vivacity and energy. And please don’t look for a reason behind the comic chaos. Some things are not meant to mean anything beyond what they seem. This film is a marvel of packaging.

Denise Richards love to do another Hindi film

Mumbai, Denise Richards is going to watch more Hindi films, finds them more passionate than American romantic comedies and would love to do another Bollywood flick after her brief cameo in the big budget “Kambakkht Ishq”. The Hollywood star reveals all this and more in a conversation with co-star Akshay Kumar, who she admits she finds cute.

Excerpts from the conversation:

Akshay: We have Denise Richards here with me… So what do you think about being in the Indian film industry in Bollywood?

Denise: “Kambakkht Ishq” was my first Bollywood film and I didn’t know what to expect from it. But I felt very comfortable. Bollywood is a very catchy phrase, it sounds cool. All of you welcomed me and made feel so comfortable. Thank you. You all are very helpful and very fun people and I love that.

Akshay: Have you seen any Bollywood film?

Denise: I have three movies in my bag and I’m going to go home and watch all the three movies.

Akshay: All three are my movies. (Laughs)

Denise: I have heard AK (Akshay Kumar) is a very big star and I am so honoured and flattered to work with a big star like him.

Akshay: I must tell you, Denise has done some romantic scenes with me which are typically Bollywood style. So did you find any difference in that?

Denise: I find this Bollywood movie to be more passionate than a romantic comedy in America. The emotions are bigger here and there is much more passion here which I like.

Akshay: Is emotion different between Hollywood and Bollywood?

Denise: No, I think for this movie in particular the intention is the same. The woman is in love with the man and the other woman is sad seeing him go. So the intention is the same as far as a romantic comedy is concerned. Bollywood movies are bigger and more passionate of course.

Akshay: Would you do another movie here?

Denise: Yes, I would love to do another Bollywood movie.

Akshay: There is a shot where Denise gives all her shopping bags to me and when I am walking with her I fall down.

Denise: He is the biggest action star and in that particular scene I think that you really fell. But I also thought that when we both were walking down the steps in a scene, like Spartans, you were a little clumsy and that was very cute. And I do find that most action stars like Pierce Brosnan are a little clumsy and that’s very cute, endearing and sweet.

Akshay: I think that it’s very natural also. Basically a man when he is walking, he is a little clumsy somewhere or the other, especially carrying so many bags, like 10-15 of them. I think we are clumsy.

Denise: But it was very easy working with them. Doing a romantic comedy in my very first scene, coming gout of a pool I had to kiss him and all that and it can be very awkward and uncomfortable sometimes.

Akshay: Were you uncomfortable?

Denise: No, you were very nice. You made me feel so comfortable which was very nice and very much at ease. The director (Sabir Khan) is so sweet and such like a big kid and laughs a lot and he likes to collaborate and give ideas. He made me feel so comfortable as well… Everyone made me feel very comfortable.

Munnabhai Chale Amerika

The two loveable goons, Munnabhai and his sidekick Circuit, are set to return again. This time, they’ll be making a trip to America.

We’ve already seen the promo of Munna and Circuit learning English before their trip to America. Even though the promo came a few years back, the film, Munnabhai Chale Amerika is yet to go on the floors. The movie was first held up when Sanjay Dutt who played the inimitable Munna, was arrested after his conviction in a case for illegal possession of arms. After that, director Rajkumar Hirani got busy directing his film 3 Idiots with Aamir Khan and put the third film in the ‘Munnabhai’ series on backburner.

But now, Arshad Warsi , who played the funny Circuit, has confirmed that the film will roll next year.
“'Munnabhai Chale Amerika' will go on the floors next year and we'll start shooting then onwards,” Arshad is quoted by a news agency as saying.

Though Arshad has paired with many actors in his career, his chemistry with Sanjay has been unmatched yet.

“Sanju is a zero complex guy…He is also not insecure like other actors who'd get other actors' scenes chopped to keep their own part. It's just too cool working with him and that is why our comic timing and everything match,” Arshad is quoted as saying.

‘Munnabhai Chale Amerika’ sneak peek

Circuit to Munna: “Bhai, English mein idhar aane to kya bolte hain?”

Munna: “Simple! Come here”.

Circuit: “Aur Bhai, kissi ko bolna ho ‘udhar ja’ toh kaise bolenge?”

Munna: “Simple! Pehle udhar jaane ka, aur phir kehne ka ‘Come here’.”

Anil Sharma Unhappy with Salman Khan

Apparently, Sharma frivolously wasted time in London, which could’ve been avoided if he had been better prepared for the shoot. The cavalier attitude inflated the budget considerably.

Salman had assured producer Vijay Galani that he would put his career back on track. Our source said, “Salman was so irritated by Sharma’s ways that he didn’t shy away from giving the director a earful on the sets.”

Revealing what transpired on the sets, a unit member said, “Anil Sharma doesn’t value time. Although we stayed in London for 30 days, the productivity was that of five days. Sharma asks for far too many retakes, so a lot of raw stock has been consumed. Plus, he hadn’t finalised the location. It is inexplicable that a director takes a unit abroad and doesn’t know where he is going to shoot next.”

However, Anil Sharma rebutted the story. He said, “There have been a lot of rumours about my London schedule. I would like to clarify that I had a very smooth shoot throughout. I had a wonderful working relationship with Salman. Veer is a period film and I shot scenes around Buckingham Palace, for which I had taken permission.”

Our source from the sets in London, disagreed. The source said, “For a 9am shift, Sharma would leave the hotel at 9.30am to hunt for the location. Often, he wouldn’t get the permission to shoot. If at all the shoot began, it wouldn’t be before 2.30pm. After which, it would not go on for more than four hours. We had to wind up by 6.30-7pm as most of the scenes were to be shot during the day. Everyday, the actors (including Salman) were left to cool their heels in the hotel while Sharma went to hunt for the locations.”

Not only Salman, but every actor was exasperated. The source concluded, “All of this magnified the cost of the film.”

Vijay Galani said, “We might have had a bit of a problem in getting permission to shoot at a certain place for a stipulated amount of time, but we didn’t have any major problems as such. I know Salman ever since he did my first film Suryavanshi and he has always been very supportive.”

Priyamani too Steps to Bollywood

After Asin Thottumkal, Genelia D’ Souza, Shriya Saran and Trisha, another southern actress Priyamani is set to enter the Hindi film industry with Mani Ratnam’s “Ravanan”, that has Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan in the lead.

Priyamani will portray the same role in the Hindi version of “Ravanan” that she did in the Tamil. Priyamani is excited about the significance of her character in the film.

The actress, who has done reasonably well in all the south Indian movies, is also looking forward to “Aarumugam”. She is in awe of director Suresh Krissha and says she liked his style of doing things silently and effectively.

“I have become kind of a glamour doll after ‘Paruthiveeran’. One can’t keep on doing the same roles, isn’t it? Suresh has given me a lot of scope to act in the film. In fact, I haven’t done anything extra other than following in letter and spirit what Suresh asked me to do,” said Priyamani, who has been a sizzler for the past couple of years in all her movies.

Priyamani also disclosed that she would be dubbing in her own voice in her future Malayalam movies so that she won’t miss out on awards when the films reach that level.

Unabashed kissing scenes and shows ,but ‘Love Aaj Kal’ a family film: Director

Mumbai, Imtiaz Ali openly admits that his upcoming “Love Aaj Kal”, which stars Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone, has unabashed kissing scenes and shows the lead actors mouthing expletives, but the director insists that it will still be a complete family entertainer.

The director says he has included the so-called objectionable scenes in the movie’s promos so that people are already used to it by the time they see the film.

“See, it’s the way you put it in the film and treat it. It’s up to the filmmaker not to make his film some fodder for perversion or lechery.” Ali told IANS.

Ali promises that “Love Aaj Kal”, which is Saif’s production debut, is a film that would be accepted by an entire family.

“Kisses included,” he winks. “Nobody will feel inhibited watching ‘Love Aaj Kal’. No one will hesitate walking into the film with his family. All that is potentially objectionable in the film in the strictest of sense has been taken care of in the first promo. If you have warmed up on it, rest assured you will love ‘Love Aaj Kal’,” the filmmaker said.

“Love Aaj Kal” is his third love story after “Socha Na Tha” and the blockbuster “Jab We Met”.

But there were people around Ali who weren’t too comfortable with the idea of showing Saif trying to hold Deepika’s butt, then share an unabashed kiss with her in the car and also mouth Hinglish expletives on a date right in the promo itself.

“They thought that people may get an impression that the film was only about these things but I had my own viewpoint,” explains Ali.

“My argument is that audiences are really smart. They pretty much see the intention of the filmmaker and make up their mind to watch the film accordingly. We better start taking them seriously rather than attempt at fooling them by considering ourselves over smart,” he says.

To substantiate his claim, Ali goes on to share an anecdote from his experience during the making of “Jab We Met”, which starred Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor.

“Remember the sequence in the second half of the film when Kareena curses her ex-boyfriend on phone? She goes on to say ‘Teri Maa Ki’ and a lot more. Did the audience feel awkward? Not at all. In fact they laughed during the entire scene and not a single soul came and told me that he/she felt offended by the language,” Ali reasons.

The director, however, admits that for “Love Aaj Kal”, the prime target audience is the younger crowd.

“And that’s more by accident rather than planned,” he says. “The film caters to them mainly because it’s this age group that goes and sees films in theatres. Due to this, even when I am conceptualising a film and then putting it on celluloid, I feel safe from my target audience perspective,” he explains.

With music by Pritam and lyrics by Irshad Kamil, “Love Aaj Kal” is set for a July 31 release.

Shiney Ahuja raped his maid : NCW chief

NEW DELHI: Bollywood actor Shiney Ahuja's 18-year-old domestic help has categorically stated she was raped by him, the National Commission for
Women (NCW) chief said here on Saturday.

"When we had talked to the girl in Mumbai, she had categorically stated that she was raped," Girija Vyas told reporters here.

Asked about Shiney's statement that he had "consensual sex" with the maid, the NCW chief said: "Even the medical and the DNA reports proved that she was raped. But now I cannot say anything as the case is in court."

The actor had Friday said in court that he had consensual sex with his maid and argued that the rape charge was a conspiracy to extort money from him. The actor was arrested after the victim alleged he raped her June 14.

Earlier, police said DNA test reports confirmed that Shiney had sex with his domestic help. The police had said the DNA samples of the accused matched the samples taken from the victim, who also suffered scratch marks on her body.

An NCW team, including Vyas, had rushed to Mumbai and met all the parties concerned, including the victim and her family members. Following the visit, Mumbai chief minister Ashok Chavan had announced that the Shiney Ahuja rape case would be transferred to a fast track court soon.
