Aishwarya and Rajini danced at world heritage site for 'Endhiran'

Mumbai, Sept 24: What happens when super-duper star Rajinikanth and world’s most beautiful woman, Aishwarya Rai dance arm-in-arm? Obviously, an unprecedented visual treat! Yes, recently the awesome-twosome shot an amazing dance sequence for their forthcoming film ‘Robot’. The lady was seen wearing ostrich feathers and her Rajini sir was at his stylish best. The spicy song sequence was shot at the UNESCO declared world famous heritage site - Machu Pichhu in Peru and the film went on to become the first ever shot there. Wow!

‘Robot’, one of the most promising movies of 2008, has been in news for more than one reason. Earlier, Shah Rukh had to star in the film but due to 'creative differences' with dirtector Shankar, he opted out. In walked the ‘baap’ of all superstars – the one and only Rajinikanth. After some hussle and tussle between SRK and director Shankar, the film was renamed as Enthiram. Grapevine also has it that Shankar will be shooting for his film in other exotic locales like South America, too.

The film is to be produced by Ayngaran and Eros International. AR Rahman has been roped in for music. This will be the second film for Ash under Shankar's direction after 'Jeans'.

Earlier, in an interview to a news daily, Aishwarya talked in glowing details about the Tamil superstar, “Rajini Sir is such a wonderful human being. He has been so close to the family, too. I am glad and honoured to be working with him."

When asked about heroines getting sidelined in a Rajini film, Aishwarya refuted the claim, "I don't think it's a fair statement. You can't but be fascinated by this phenomenon called Rajini sir. He is so super-fascinating and intriguing to his audience. I don't think it's a deliberate attempt by any director to sideline any actor/character working along with him."

Hubby Abhishek, do we smell something burning? As for us, we can’t help but wait eagerly to see the fascinating pair onscreen!

Snakes and rainspost poned Billo Barber

IANS | Tuesday, 16 September , 2008, 10:31

First it was a snake in Lara Dutta's room and then torrential rains - the shooting for Priyadarshan's forthcoming Billo Barber in Tamil Nadu was indeed chaotic, says actor Irrfan Khan.

He recounts how a poisonous snake entered Lara's room at night while the cast was filming in Pollachi in Coimbatore district. But Lara didn't panic at all.

"To her credit, Lara handled the situation very sensibly and bravely, probably because she didn't know how poisonous the snake was. If it had bitten her it would've been disastrous," Irrfan said.

The actor, who plays the barber's role in the film that also stars Shah Rukh Khan, can't stop praising Lara.

"I've realised that facing the camera with her was as challenging as co-starring with Tabu or Dimple Kapadia. Lara is the most underrated actress I've worked with."

Lara was also a little tense as her mom had apparently taken ill.

"I could sense she was tense and dealing with a situation on the phone. But she never let it affect her work," Irrfan said.

Apart from snakes, the heavy rains also gave the unit a tough time. But they had to continue shooting as Shah Rukh Khan had to get back to Mumbai.

Said Irrfan: "Pollachi is one of the most peaceful spots in the world. Though prone to the monsoon vagaries at this time of the year, never did we imagine that the weather could act so unpredictable.

"Suddenly during the last two days the weather acted up more than all of us who were facing the camera. We were in panic. Because there was no way Shah Rukh could delay his departure. Priyan had to wrap up his work at any cost. So we had no choice but to shoot through the rain which was harrowing."

And when the King Khan wrapped up and left the shoot, the whole unit missed him terribly.

"Shah Rukh is as entertaining off camera as he's on screen. We all bonded big time. Now that he's no longer with us in Pollachi we find that spark is gone out of the unit. Seldom have I missed a co-star after shooting with him or her," said Irrfan.

The actor, who has acted in films like The Namesake, Life In A Metro and Maqbool, said that he had brought his family to Pollachi.

"I always take my wife and two sons to as many outdoors as possible, even if it means making my kids skip school. It's the only way we have of finding time together. In fact I'm out of Mumbai shooting till the end of the year. And I'll try to get them to come with me whenever possible."

Akshay Kumar turns 41

Mumbai, Sep 9: From being Bollywood's original action hero, to playing the comic role, this Khiladi has done it all. Yet only one thing remains true that Akshay Kumar is a hit formula at the box office.

The Khiladi of Khiladis, Akshay Kumar, today turns 41. It has been one roller coaster ride in Bollywood for Akshay Kumar.

He started as a chef in Bangkok, before he tried his luck in the Bollywood industry.

It was a journey even more remarkable as he had no filmy connections, no relations in the industry and no godfather.

Like many popular actors, Akshay's initial films failed at the box office but since Khiladi in 1992 there has been no looking back for him.

With a slew of hits since 2007, he now stands in close competition with Shah Rukh Khan. His 'Singh is Kinng' this year had the biggest opening for an Indian film ever.

Akki has delivered five consecutive hits. After 18 years of his journey in Bollywood, success just keeps pouring in for this 'King' of Bollywood.

The dream boy Shah Rukh Khan again in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi

Mumbai, Sept 06: Which teenage girl’s heart hasn’t fluttered at the mention of DDLJ’s Raj – the ideal lover. ‘Raj’, essayed by Shah Rukh Khan, still remains the dream boy of females across India. And the good news is King Khan is at it again! Shah Rukh has been seen carrying the same reckless college boy looks, as he took the debutante Anushka Sharma on a ride, atop his gleaming high end Suzuki bike, while shooting for Aditya Chopra’s forthcoming ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’ in Amritsar.

Ladies swooned and girls screamed, when the King Khan was seen riding the bike right up to the front of the famous Khalsa College (Amritsar), the venue of the shoot. Debutante Anushka Sharma in a traditional white and green salwar-suit, reminded of ‘Simran’, which was played by Kajol.

And the most surprising thing is that forty plus Shah Rukh, looked every bit a college boy in his gelled, punk hairstyle, cool blue jeans and funky tee-shirt. The King Khan is going for the kill once again in ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’. Girls beware!

"The movie will release this year end as planned, and will not release along side Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi as reported in the media. The exact date will be announced soon," Sirish Allu of Geetha Arts told Sawf News.

"[Amir's] last day of shooting for the film is on the 27th of July. After that just two solo songs featuring Asin and Jiah Khan are to be shot," Sirish adds.

What that means for a lot of Aamir fans is that he will not be supporting his buzz cut for much longer now!

The eagerly awaited film is a remake of the similarly named Tamil film, also directed by Murugadoss. Aamir plays a distraught boyfriend suffering from short-term amnesia who is called upon to avenge his girlfriend's murder.

Aamir is romantically paired in the film with south actress Asin and Jiah Khan plays his college going sister.

The film is reported to have already been sold for a whopping Rs 93 crore - Rs 53 crore for the domestic screening and Rs 40 crore for satellite, overseas and home video rights. In comparison Om Shanti Om had fetched a record Rs 73 crore.

Salman Khan’s Veer grabbed overseas rights for a whopping Rs 150 crores

Salman Khan starrer Veer might break down all records if the price its being offered is agreed upon. It has been offered a mind boggling Rs. 150 crore for its complete world wide rights.

Industry trade sources inform, "If Vipul Shah's London Dreams got a whopping Rs. 120 crore even before shooting a single shot and became the biggest deal in Bollywood, Veer is all set to break its record very soon.

Anil Sharma's Veer starring Salman and Sohail Khan along with a debutante model turned actress and Mithun Chakraborty has been offered Rs. 150 crore by one of Bollywood's top most corporate production house.

What has made Veer a period drama such a hot proposition? Well it has a script written by Salman Khan himself and the ferocious way by which he is promoting this film everywhere, the hype for the film is multiplying every passing day.

Salman is also keen on taking his war with Shah Rukh Khan more further by taking active interest in every single department of his most ambitious venture till date, Veer.

He wants to prove that if SRK can take Om Shanti Om to glory single handedly, he can pitch in more efforts and ensure double the result of OSO.

The staggering price offered is a sort of moral victory for Salman as he is now considered the hottest stars of Bollywood in terms of market price overtaking SRK by leaps and bounds!"

Vidya Balan 's special konnection with SRK

Mumbai, Aug 31: Bollywood’s vivacious diva Vidya Balan recently opened up about her special konnection with none other than the King Khan. Declaring her love for SRK on a TV show, Vidya apparently stated that she would be even killing the actor’s wife, Gauri Khan, for getting SRK, the man of her dreams.

Shah Rukh, of course, has an unbelievably immense female fan following, from both inside and outside the industry, but no one till now has come out as daring as Vidya newly did.

The lady, however, made that unexpected statement in light humour while she was chit-chatting with Sajid Khan (with whom she has been previously linked with) on the TV show 'Sajid’s Superstars'.

Well done Vidya, but we hope your love for Shah Rukh didn’t come as big a shock for Shahid as for many. Oops, did we just say Shahid? Sorry, please ignore, we are talking about Sajid, of course!
