Besides, Goldie (director) has executed the subject remarkably". The tension between Jaya Bachchan and Raj Thackeray’s MNS has affected Amitabh’s Friday release, The Last Lear. The party workers in protest against Jaya’s controversial statement burnt her effigies, tore posters and boycott the screening of the film. The theatre in which the film was to be screened has been damaged. The premiere of the film is scheduled to happen tonight at a suburban multiplex. Though Jaya, on Amitabh’s plea and Raj Thackeray’s demand offered her apology in an English daily, Raj did not accept her excuse. He demanded Jaya to say sorry before media, to a regional publication.
Jaya’s anti-Maharastrian statement during the music launch of Drona created furor all over the city. Though she claimed that her remarks were not meant to hurt the sentiments of the people of Maharastra, the protesters were not ready to believe her. They shouted slogans, tore posters, brought out rally in protest and boycotted the screening of Friday release, The Last Lear. According to director Rituparno Ghosh, the film will be released on the scheduled date of September 12.
Apart from Amitabh Bachchan, the film also stars Arjum Rampal and Preity Zinta in pivotal roles. Big B has well promoted the film and it received a lot of accolades in several international film festivals. This will be Preity’s first off-beat film.
Deepika Padukone was supposed to make her debut with a Priyadarshan film, but she chose Farah Khan’s Om Shanti Om instead. Now, three years later, the actress is all set for a cameo in the director’s much-talked about Billo Barber. Priyan, however, credits Shah Rukh Khan for roping in Deepika for the project. “Yes, she was being considered for a film called Pirates – about music piracy. But the film didn’t work out. I’m glad Deepika made her debut with a film as successful as OSO, and that too with Shah Rukh,” said Priyan. Besides Deeepika, Kareena Kapoor also makes a guest appearance in the movie. |

After having made a complete recovery from his hamstring injury, Aamir Khan has been busy filming for A.R. Murugadoss directed Ghajini, which is now on track for a year end release.
"The movie will release this year end as planned, and will not release along side Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi as reported in the media. The exact date will be announced soon," Sirish Allu of Geetha Arts told Sawf News.
Aditya Chopra directed Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, featuring Shah Rukh Khan and newcomer Anushka Sharma is slotted for release on December 12.
"[Amir's] last day of shooting for the film is on the 27th of July. After that just two solo songs featuring Asin and Jiah Khan are to be shot," Sirish adds.
What that means for a lot of Aamir fans is that he will not be supporting his buzz cut for much longer now!
The eagerly awaited film is a remake of the similarly named Tamil film, also directed by Murugadoss. Aamir plays a distraught boyfriend suffering from short-term amnesia who is called upon to avenge his girlfriend's murder.
Aamir is romantically paired in the film with south actress Asin and Jiah Khan plays his college going sister.
The film is reported to have already been sold for a whopping Rs 93 crore - Rs 53 crore for the domestic screening and Rs 40 crore for satellite, overseas and home video rights. In comparison Om Shanti Om had fetched a record Rs 73 crore.
Salman Khan starrer Veer might break down all records if the price its being offered is agreed upon. It has been offered a mind boggling Rs. 150 crore for its complete world wide rights.
Industry trade sources inform, "If Vipul Shah's London Dreams got a whopping Rs. 120 crore even before shooting a single shot and became the biggest deal in Bollywood, Veer is all set to break its record very soon.
Anil Sharma's Veer starring Salman and Sohail Khan along with a debutante model turned actress and Mithun Chakraborty has been offered Rs. 150 crore by one of Bollywood's top most corporate production house.
What has made Veer a period drama such a hot proposition? Well it has a script written by Salman Khan himself and the ferocious way by which he is promoting this film everywhere, the hype for the film is multiplying every passing day.
Salman is also keen on taking his war with Shah Rukh Khan more further by taking active interest in every single department of his most ambitious venture till date, Veer.
He wants to prove that if SRK can take Om Shanti Om to glory single handedly, he can pitch in more efforts and ensure double the result of OSO.
The staggering price offered is a sort of moral victory for Salman as he is now considered the hottest stars of Bollywood in terms of market price overtaking SRK by leaps and bounds!"
