The parents of the Australian actor Heath Ledger, who was found dead in his Manhattan apartment yesterday afternoon, insisted today that his death was accidental.
Ledger was discovered in his bedroom in the apartment in the SoHo neighbourhood of Manhattan at 3.30pm by a housekeeper and a masseuse who he had called for an appointment. They found him unconscious on the floor and called emergency services when he failed to respond.
"We are investigating the possibility of an overdose ... There were pills within the vicinity of the bed," said police spokesman Paul Browne, adding that the prescription medicine included sleeping pills. >>>more
