Eros' Ayngaran acquires Rajnikanth's Robot

MUMBAI: Eros International's recently acquired Tamil film distribution company Ayngaran International has acquired the Rajnikanth starrer Robot. Incidentally, Shah Rukh Khan was supposed to star in the film and also produce it under Red Chillies Entertainment, but later backed out due to creative differences with the film's director Shankar.

After the grand success of Sivaji - The Boss, superstar Rajnikanth, Shankar, and A.R. Rahman, will come together once again in the much anticipated Robot. The movie will be produced in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu and other languages.

Shankar said, “It’s very exciting to be working again with talents like Rajnikanth and A.R. Rahman. Combined with Ayngaran – Eros International’s global distribution and marketing muscle, Robot has the potential of becoming this year’s biggest release.”

Rajnikanth added, “Shankar briefed me about the concept of Robot. I think it’s one of its kinds to be made on Indian screen. No one has done it before and no one can do it again. I am immensely happy to be working on such a film with talents like Shankar and A.R. Rahman and renowned media companies like Ayngaran and Eros International, which can offer this film the platform it so deserves.”

Ayngaran CEO K KarunaMoorthy said, “After the grand success of Billa, we are all geared up for Robot now. Aligning with Eros International’s consolidation strategy, we are leveraging our position to integrate the Tamil film industry by releasing films on the global platform. It’s a pleasure working again with the magical team of Sivaji - The Boss and we are positive that Robot will break all box office records.”
